Now, Paris-based luxury company Balenciaga has revealed a high-heel version of Crocs's famous clogs - but the Internet is far from impressed. The shoes debuted as part of Balenciaga's spring 2022 collection, although, as per CNN, they are still not available to buy. Reporters Without Borders (RSF) is alarmed by the Nigeria government’s decision to suspend Twitter throughout the country after the social media platform deleted one of the president’s tweets, and by the attacks and threats it poses to the media according to journalists interviewed by RSF. Nigerian media outlets are shocked by Twitter’s suspension for an indefinite period that the government announced on 4 June. “It’s a big blow,” said Jide Oyekunle, a reporter for the Daily Independent newspaper. With 40 million Nigerian users (five times as many as in France), “Twitter is an excellent source of trending topics to not go dry as a journalist,” Oyekunle added.  “We don’t know what is happening, what is being said on issues,” said Lizzy Chikpi, a reporter for Order Paper, a news site that specialises in covering legislative matters.  Ironically, it was on Twitter that the information ministry announced the ban. A huge internet outage has affected large swaths of the internet, including major sites like Amazon, Reddit, Twitter and Twitch, along with news sites including the New York Times and The Guardian. The source of the problem is the Fastly content delivery network (CDN), which has confirmed a global disruption. On its status page, Fastly said "we're currently investigating potential impact to performance with our CDN services."  Other affected sites include Stack Overflow, GitHub, gov.uk, Hulu, HBO Max, Quora, PayPal, Vimeo and Shopify, as our sister site TechCrunch has noted. While some are completely down with 503 errors, only images are affected on certain sites like Twitter and Amazon.  Fastly describes itself as an "edge" network, sitting between users and websites. It includes their content delivery network, image optimization, video and streaming, cloud security, and load balancing services. Nigerian officials and U.S diplomatic officials met on Monday over the former’s ban on Twitter in the country. The suspension of the social media giant has sparked global outcry over what they call a threat to freedom of expression. Nigeria’s Foreign Minister, Geoffrey Onyeama said Africa’s most populous nation is concerned about the platform being ‘’used for destabilization.’’ "Why we've taken this measure is to see to what extent we can rebalance these media as forces of good and stop them being used as platforms for destabilization", Onyeama said. Twitter has yet to official comment on the ban, but says it was ''deeply concerned'' about the suspension of its services in the country, and that it would work "to restore access for all''.
