TOKYO, JP ( July 17, 2025) – Indigenous leaders from the Wet’suwet’ten Nation in Canada have formally demanded the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) and Mitsubishi Corporation to immediately suspend all current and potential future financing LNG Canada Project due to significant violations of Indigenous rights, ongoing human rights abuses, and severe environmental harm. Complaints were submitted this morning by  Wet’suwet’en Hereditary Chief Na’Moks and Deputy Chief of the Hagwilget Village Council Gwii Lok’im Gibuu (Jesse Stoeppler). The submissions detail how JBIC’s US$850 million financing, supported by major Japanese banks (Mizuho, MUFG, and SMBC) and Mitsubishi Corporation’s direct investment (15%), has enabled the construction of the Coastal GasLink (CGL) pipeline without the Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) of the Wet’suwet’en hereditary governance, violating Canadian constitutional and international law. “JBIC and Mitsubishi’s financing of LNG Canada has violated our sovereignty, human rights and fueled colonial violence against Indigenous land defenders while destroying sensitive ecosystems on our land,” said Chief Na’Moks. “After meeting with representatives of JBIC earlier this year, and amid growing calls for more projects without meaningful Indigenous Free, Prior, and Informed Consent built in, we are taking this step to hold international financiers accountable for the realities

Renderings were finally published at OKC's State of the City address. The NBA champion is set to move to a new downtown OKC arena in 2028. That means only three more seasons will be played at Paycom Center. The $900 million construction cost guarantees the Thunder will stay in OKC through 2053 once it signs a new long-term lease. Advertisement The Thunder have played at Paycom Center since their relocation from Seattle in 2008. The arena opened in 2002 and is one of the smaller NBA homes. It was formerly known as the Chesapeake Energy Arena before being rebranded as Paycom Center in 2021. Louisiana Tech University has officially accepted an invitation to join the Sun Belt Conference, a move that will renew rivalries and provide a better competitive experience for Bulldogs and Lady Techsters. The move comes after Italian parliament member Sandro Gozi urged for the Commission to begin a formal inquiry, as “the case raises serious concerns about compliance with the Digital Services Act (DSA) as well as the governance of generative AI in the Union’s digital space.” Poland’s Minister of Digital Affairs Krzysztof Gawkowski had also called for the Commission to take action and said that the Polish government would consider banning the app. Due to the size of the X platform, the site falls under the European Union’s DSA which requires transparency about operations.
