The South Korean girl group has reached that important milestone before—with the same song, no less—so they added one more win to their growing list of massive global smashes on the site. With another entrant into the billion-play club, Blackpink advanced again and tied with another one of the most successful acts from their home country. Blackpink is now tied with BTS (again) for the most videos on YouTube with at least one billion plays among South Korean musical acts. Both vocal bands have now seen half a dozen of their visuals make it to that milestone, and when one of them passes the other, it usually isn’t long before they are even once again. “How You Like That” has now hit one billion views on YouTube twice, only…

'Jackass' and the rise and fall of prank content online – NBC News

Twenty-two years after "Jackass" debuted on MTV, the group who popularized pranking is back on the screen with "Jackass Forever." But in the years since Johnny Knoxville, Bam Margera, Chris Pontius and others in the original "Jackass" crew were last in the limelight, social acceptance of pranking has changed — especially online. Like the previous films, the nonsensical antics in "Jackass Forever" are meant to make the viewer laugh at the cast's apparent suffering. As a review in the Hollywood Reporter says, “You either find humiliation, degradation and physical abuse hilarious or you don’t.” And these days, plenty of people don’t. While the reviews for the latest film are overwhelmingly positive, fatigue around content in the pranking genre online is growing. The “Jackass” franchise laid the foundation for the prank culture that long dominated YouTube and Vine. Some creators, like the Natural Born Pranksters (YouTubers Dennis Roady, Roman Atwood and Vitaly Zdorovetskiy) were so successful that their pranking content was developed into a movie, backed by Lionsgate and Studio71. Others, like Logan Paul, built a following on shocking prank videos before pursuing other genres of content.Although the pranks featured in the “Jackass” show and movies are less harmful than the ones in many…

5 Brilliant Films To Watch On Bang Bang, A New Youtube Channel For Animated Shorts

Shorts By Alex Dudok de Wit | 02/04/2022 2:46 pm | Back in 2020, we reported the launch of a Youtube channel dedicated to the library of Autour de Minuit, one of France’s pre-eminent distributors of animated shorts. Now Miyu Distribution, another major French player in this space, has followed suit. Bang Bang is the rebranded hub for Miyu Distribution’s catalog, which includes festival favorites, Oscar nominees, and several films we’ve covered because we admire their boldness and flair. The channel already features 60-plus shorts that have completed their festival runs. Two more will be added each week, on Tuesday and Friday. The films are organized into categories: documentaries, comedies, LGBTQIA+, etc. Many tackle adult themes and some skew very experimental, but there is also a section of family-friendly works. Filmmakers from France, Europe, and beyond are represented. We’ve selected five great shorts on Bang Bang to start you off. If you like the flavor, head to the channel for more. Maestro (Illogic) Forest animals sing opera. That’s it. I remember this absurdist one-joke film well from its festival run: it always got a big laugh, refreshing the mood in the theater after the invariably darker shorts that had preceded…

'Africa' by Toto, covered in Zelda: Majora's Mask on Nintendo 3DS – Polygon

The Deku Pipes from The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask have range. You can play the “Sonata of Awakening” on them, and use them for puzzle solving on the Nintendo 3DS. But if you’re really creative, you might see their potential as an everyday instrument. And one YouTuber did just that, editing together an impressive cover of Toto’s “Africa.” YouTuber Bigfatfrown managed to pull off the 1980s classic using a handful of instruments in Majora’s Mask 3D: bongo drums, a guitar, and Deku Pipes. The YouTuber put the Deku Pipes’ five playable buttons to good use. It took some ingenuity to pull it off — namely, several layers of melody and drumbeat, edited on top of each other, much like an a cappella singer performing every harmony. At the song’s most chaotic moment, Bigfatfrown has seven different layers, each performed on the Nintendo 3DS. Thanks to the edit, if you look closely, the video also passes as a kind of guide for how to do it yourself (if you’re into that kind of thing). This isn’t the only 3DS cover Bigfatfrown has recorded. The YouTuber has also made a brief snippet of the hook in “Take on Me” by A-ha.…
