Sharing knowledge and digital content creation globally is the dream of many YouTubers. In Cambodia, there has yet to be many people able to rise to the status of “influencer”. Cheng Sopheak, knowns as Sopheak Reanthort, is a Cambodian YouTube creator who produces content teaching photography. With 341,000 subscribers to his channels, he was invited to attend a webinar hosted by Google and YouTube with the Ministry of Post last Friday explaining how creators can best utilise the platform. Sopheak told Khmer Times on Monday that he wants to encourage other creators to produce content. “I am very honoured that I was the only YouTuber in Cambodia to attend the webinar as this is the first time that the government and the international platforms joined hands to inspire content. We have different talents, perspectives, vision, missions and goals but we all want to reach as many people as possible,” he said. “We must value our own national language but also have international communication skills in order to produce global content. Now I am considering to create more content in the future with English content together with subtitles,” said Sopheak. “As one of the creators or a YouTuber, I faced cyberbullying.…

YouTube 'Street Speed 717' star charged with tearing up creek, gets ARD – York Daily Record

Michael Hyssong does crazy stuff with cars and trucks for a living, recording his stunts and exploits and posting the videos on YouTube. He got his start six years ago when he posted videos of him doing crazy stuff with his old pickup truck, and it took off. “I come from a lower-middle-class family,” he said, “and when I got my first YouTube check, it was $300. I thought, I could do this.” And he’s still at it. His latest video depicts him jumping his Lamborghini Urus — a $218,000 car — over a Lamborghini Aventador.  He is approaching 1.2 million followers on his YouTube channel, Street Speed 717, and, according to his attorney, the 27-year-old Harrisburg resident “makes more money than both of us combined.” It’s all good fun, doing crazy things with very expensive cars and trucks. He didn’t know it would get him into trouble with the law. How he got into trouble involves a Dodge Ram TRX — a pickup that retails for more than $70,000 and is powered by a 702 horsepower Hellcat engine — and Doe Run Creek in northern York County. On Jan. 9 this year, an anonymous tipster sent a complaint to the state Game Commission’s Operation Game Thief tip line about a YouTube video depicting a truck driving…

YouTube will force creators to use 2-step verification on Google accounts starting this … – 9to5Google

Google takes account security fairly seriously and, over the past few years, has been pushing 2-step authentication/verification for users, sometimes requiring it for specific account actions. This week, Google has announced that YouTube creators will be required to use 2-step verification to access key functions starting later this year. In a tweet from the “TeamYouTube” account, Google has confirmed its plans to require creators to use the stronger account protection. YouTube will require that creators use 2-step verification to access YouTube Studio. The requirement kicks in starting on November 1, 2021. There is one exception here, though. You’ll still be able to use YouTube and even upload videos without 2-step verification, but only if you’re not in the YouTube Partner Program. So, essentially, YouTube is making the stronger account protection a requirement for those making money through the platform. 2-step verification on Google accounts is available through your account settings, or this direct link, and can take the form of codes sent via SMS, backup codes you print out or save elsewhere, Google Authenticator, or a notification sent to your smartphone/tablet via Google Prompt. That last one is currently Google’s default option and works on both Android and iOS devices…

Meet Canberra YouTube star Susie J Todd

When Susie Todd quit her fulltime job as a teacher’s aide to pursue a career on YouTube, she had no idea she would gain a combined 847,000 followers in just a couple of years. Susie’s channel (susiejtodd) posts fashion, beauty and fitness content, but it was her videos surrounding body positivity and midsize representation that made waves on the platform.   In August 2019, the Chloe Ting fitness challenge was well on its way to amassing over 387 million views. Response videos popped up all over YouTube, as women swarmed to “prove” the challenge’s purported benefits of giving anybody visible abs in two weeks. Susie, who had been posting on YouTube as a hobby after studying film at CIT, watched the array of Chloe Ting response videos in utter disbelief, as each of the women appeared to be doing the strenuous workouts with ease, grace and a fully done face. “Perfect hair in sleek ponytails, they were never even breaking a sweat,” she said. “I thought, ‘This isn’t realistic for someone who’s still trying to get fit. I need to show people that it is hard to do these challenges, so they don’t feel bad when they try it themselves. “Back…

YouTube upgrades search with chapter previews and better recommendations for translated …

YouTube announced two feature updates today to make it easier for people to find the content they’re looking for on the platform. This includes visual search features and easier discovery of foreign language videos that have captions in the user’s local language. On desktop, YouTube users can hover over a video’s thumbnail and watch a brief clip play. This functionality will now extend to mobile with the added ability to browse the chapters within a video. From the search page, users can jump directly to the chapter they’re most interested in. “Let’s say you’re looking for a good sourdough recipe and want to work on your kneading technique. With these new search results, you can see all the steps in the video, from feeding the starter to pulling the bread out of the oven — and skip right to the chapter on kneading,” wrote Pablo Paniagua, director of Product Management, in a blog post. The other product update recommends videos in other languages to the user, so long as the video has captioning available in their language. So, to extend YouTube’s sourdough example, if you speak Icelandic and can’t find a good sourdough tutorial in your language, YouTube might recommend…
