A woman who grilled passengers about their race on a train last week has had both her YouTube channel and employment as a property agent terminated. In a post on Facebook on Tuesday, Knight Frank Singapore said the woman's conduct was brought to its attention earlier this week and it has terminated her services. "One of Knight Frank's core values is to be a responsible business to people and the community," it said. "The company maintains zero tolerance for hate speech and racism that threaten the foundations on which Singapore is built." The woman, an associate with the company, has also been delisted from the Council for Estate Agencies' public register. In a statement to The Straits Times yesterday, YouTube said the woman's channel was removed due to violations of its harassment and cyber bullying policies. "We have strict policies that prohibit harassment on YouTube, including content that maliciously insults someone based on their race, gender expression, or sexual orientation," said its spokesman. "We quickly remove content that violates these policies when flagged." YouTube removed over 100,000 videos in Singapore between October and December last year, based on its Transparency Report. All of the channels associated with EDP445 and Chet Goldstein have been removed from YouTube. The Chet channel posted a video alleging that EDP445 had sexual conversations with a minor. YouTube has taken down the channels belonging to Bryan Moreland, known online as EDP445, and Alex Rosen, who ran the Chet Goldstein channel.The actions, which occurred at the same time, came after Rosen claimed in a video that Moreland had sent sexual messages and images to a decoy posing as a 13-year-old girl. On Monday, the Chet Goldstein channel posted an hour-long "sting" video where Rosen and fellow predator hunter Ghost, who runs the channel CC Unit, approached Moreland in Bakersfield, California. Rosen's video at least made it seem like Moreland thought he was going to meet up with a 13-year-old girl. That video went viral, pulling in over two million views.Moreland, who had built up an audience making videos and ranting about the Philadelphia Eagles, has disappeared from social media since the videos went viral. Floyd Mayweather and Logan Paul is on ... again. In December, Mayweather announced on Instagram that the two would fight a February 20th exhibition bout. The fight was subsequently postponed, but now appears to be back on. The two are scheduled to fight on June 6th at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, per Joe Pompliano. UPDATE: Mayweather Promotions has confirmed the fight, per Chris Mannix. Mayweather is 50-0 in his career and has 27 knockouts. At his peak, he was the pound-for-pound champ and the biggest moneymaker in the fight game. Paul has fought twice, losing one exhibition and then the subsequent pro rematch to British YouTuber KSI. I’m sure it will go swimmingly for Logan Paul. Paul’s brother Jake is the one to take only slightly more seriously in boxing. He has won three pro fights, although the opponents have included a YouTube personality, retired basketball player Nate Robinson, and an MMA fighter more known for his wrestling skills. But, he has impressed in his three wins, so maybe he can offer a tip or two to his brother to prevent him from an ugly defeat. Unlikely, but you never know I suppose.

Executives from Facebook Inc., Twitter Inc. and Alphabet Inc.’s YouTube were pressed by lawmakers Tuesday on how user content is shared and highlighted on their platforms through algorithms that one senator said can be misused, “driving us into poisonous echo chambers.”Sen. Ben Sasse, the top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee’s panel on Privacy, Technology and the Law, made the comment as members examined algorithms — the lines of software code that determine how user-generated information is displayed and who gets to see it.“Algorithms, like almost any technologies that are new, have costs and benefits” and can be abused, said Sasse, who is from Nebraska.The hearing took place as Congress is considering how to overhaul Section 230, a provision of the 1996 communications law that protects internet companies from liability for user content. Another week, another big tech hearing in Congress. With a flurry of antitrust reform bills on the way, Democratic lawmakers are again bringing in some of the world’s most powerful tech companies for questioning. In the next hearing, scheduled for Tuesday, April 27 at 10 AM ET, the Senate Judiciary’s subcommittee on privacy and technology will zero in on concerns about algorithmic amplification. Specifically, the hearing will explore how algorithms amplify dangerous content and shape user behavior on social platforms. The subcommittee’s chair Sen. Chris Coons previously indicated that he would bring in tech CEOs, but Tuesday’s hearing will instead feature testimony from policy leads at Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The hearing might prove a unique opportunity to hold YouTube’s feet to the fire. In spite of being one of the biggest social networks in the world — one without much transparency about its regular failures to control extremism and misinformation — YouTube seldom winds up under the microscope with Congress.
