While there are a number of 8K TVs with Android TV support, standard Android TV boxes were capped at 4K when streaming YouTube content — even if higher resolution videos are available on the platform. 8K video streaming support is now rolling out in a limited fashion for Android TV with YouTube for Android TV version 2.12.08 according to guys over at Android Police. As we have said, this is a very limited rollout as you’ll need to be running Android 10 and above to even see the option. If you don’t have an 8K TV you can still benefit from downscaling, when watching such high-resolution content on lower-resolution displays. That said, streaming a ton of 8K YouTube videos to your Android TV set-top boxes could really hammer your data cap — provided you have a cap. Let’s hope that H.266 video encoding comes soon, as the enhanced bitrate-to-quality benefits would really help when consuming such high-resolution content online. Weirdly, there appears to be a couple of changelogs. The initial changelog removed mention of HDR support with the .av1 codec. The annual Charles County Public Schools (CCPS) It’s Academic tournament will air at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 2. Teams from the seven high schools will compete in rounds and answer questions in a quiz-style format. Topics range from history, literature, science, math and mythology to sports and current events. This year’s event takes place in a virtual format. The first-place team from the event goes on to compete against Centreville and Fairfax high schools in a match set to air Feb. 27 on NBC4. Singaporean provocateur-in-exile Amos Yee has pleaded not guilty to child porn and sexual grooming charges in the United States.  The 21-year-old suspect, who courted controversy in Singapore before relocating to Chicago three years ago, entered the plea remotely yesterday, weeks after he was indicted for allegedly exchanging nude photos and text messages with a 14-year-old girl in Texas. Yee, who became a vocal pro-pedophilia activist after finding refuge in the United States, was also charged with solicitation and possession of child pornography.  His next court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 18. If convicted, he faces deportation. Yee sought asylum abroad after several run-ins with the law at home, where he made international headlines at just 16 when he was jailed for celebrating the death of founding father Lee Kuan Yew in 2015. He was put behind bars again the following year for comments deemed offensive to Christians and Muslims. He then fled Singapore and was granted political asylum in the United States.  While living there, Yee began to voice strong support for pedophiles on his YouTube channel before it was taken down. He also ran a pro-pedophile online forum, according to prosecutors last month, and had defended himself on YouTube…

Duke fans know better than just about anyone what Zion Williamson is capable of. We saw him absolutely shred college basketball not just because of his powerful athleticism but also because he’s an unbelievably smart basketball player and a guy who knows how to include and uplift his teammates. With his injury, the pandemic, the broken season and his family crisis, Williamson’s rookie year was so choppy we didn’t get to see the real Zion. We should mention - again - that his family crisis, whatever it was, was a big deal. This is a guy who is very close to his family and relies on them more than anyone else. On the one hand, he’s being paid a truckload of money and is expected to perform. On the other? He’s a teenager and a sensitive one at that. The NBA went down this road a long time ago. You have to deal with people as they mature. You can’t expect perfection at 19. Hallmark Movies Now, a subscription video on demand service by Crown Media Family Networks, is available on YouTube TV. YouTube TV subscribers can get Hallmark Movies Now as an add-on option for $5.99 a month, following a seven-day free trial, in some markets. YouTube TV, currently only available in the US, is priced at a lofty $65. Hallmark Movies Now will offer 1,000 hours of commercial-free Hallmark branded original content. The channel was launched in 2017 and is also available on iOS, Android, Roku and Amazon Fire platforms.
