The new rules of podcasting: top takeaways from our talk with Jon Youshaei & YouTube’s …

Creator and Artist Stories By The YouTube Team Jul 22, 2025 – ] minute read The world of podcasting is evolving, and YouTube is at the center of that transformation. But what does it take to succeed as a podcaster on the platform today? To get to the heart of it, we brought together some brilliant minds: marketing expert and creator Jon Youshaei, YouTube's Podcasts Product Lead Steve McLendon, and Creator Liaison Rene Ritchie. Their conversation was packed with actionable advice and forward-looking insights. Whether you're a seasoned podcaster or just thinking about starting, here are the key takeaways you need to know. 1. The Line is Blurring: Every Podcaster is a Creator The old distinctions are fading. Successful podcasters on YouTube don’t just think in terms of audio; they embrace the full spectrum of content creation. As Jon Youshaei put it, “The line between creator and podcaster is just getting blurrier and blurrier. Every podcaster is a creator; every creator is a podcaster... They’re both trying to do the same thing: tell a story and build an audience.” This mindset shift is crucial. It means thinking visually, engaging with your community across different formats, and leveraging all the tools

My inconvenient Jewish fear | Debra Messing – The Blogs – The Times of Israel

Years ago, I stood on a stage in Ohio, holding a microphone and wearing a campaign button. I had been invited to speak on behalf of a presidential candidate, someone I believed represented the best of what America could be. It wasn’t the first time I’d done that. I’ve campaigned for nearly every Democratic nominee in my adult life. That’s how deeply I believe in the promise of progressive politics. We are taught that movements built on justice always expand. And for most of my life, that’s what I felt. I’ve spoken out, marched, signed petitions, testified before Congress, and shown up for communities facing injustice, violence, and inequity, for people who felt unseen or unsafe. I’ve done it because I believe deeply that we all deserve dignity and protection. For 25 years, no one has questioned my commitment to social justice. But now, when the people being threatened are my own, when I speak out against calls for the extermination of Jews, I am suddenly contemptible. Every post I share on social media, no matter how apolitical, is inundated with hateful comments. It’s devastating. I’ve always known antisemitism existed on the far right. It’s been there in plain sight.

Liberal media host debates 20 far-right Trump supporters on YouTube show — and chaos unfolds

Politics Updated: Jul. 21, 2025, 1:48 p.m. Published: Jul. 21, 2025, 1:30 p.m. A former MSNBC host debated 20 far-right Republicans on a YouTube show released over the weekend. (AP Photo/Alex Brandon)AP Former MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan took on 20 far-right Republicans — and he said he isn’t sure whether he should laugh or cry. Hasan, the editor-in-chief and CEO of new media company Zeteo, was featured as a progressive in an episode released over the weekend on Jubilee’s “Surrounded,” a recurring series on the YouTube channel. The video was divided into segments by claims made by Hasan. He had to defend his statement, while conservatives had the chance to poke holes in his argument. Hasan made several accusations against President Donald Trump, including that he is “pro-crime” and “pro-criminal,” he defies the Constitution, and his plan in Gaza should be seen as ethnic cleansing. He also argued that immigrants are overall good for America. When asked about by a conservative about what makes a person “pro-crime” versus “anti-crime,” Hasan said that “pro-criminal” could describe someone who is “soft” on criminals, such as letting criminals leave prison or pardoning individuals who assaulted police officers. Hasan pointed to Trump’s blanket pardons
