Everton Conclude Pre-Season With Thrilling City Test

Everton concluded their pre-season campaign with a thoroughly entertaining contest against Manchester City at Walton Hall Park. The hosts were narrowly beaten 4-3 on Saturday afternoon as two late strikes from City condemned the Toffees to defeat. A Martina Piemonte header put Everton in front after 26 minutes, with Nicoline Sorensen coming off the bench to net a brace which put the Blues back in front. However, two goals in the space of three minutes saw City become eventual winners in the end. An end-to-end opening half saw Brian Sorensen’s side draw first blood. Karoline Olesen slipped the ball through to Katrine Veje along the left side. The Denmark international swooped the ball in for Piemonte to nod home into the bottom right corner. Despite a dominant half from the hosts, City struck level six minutes prior to the interval. Mary Fowler found a yard of space inside the Blues box and finished into the bottom left corner past Emily Ramsey in the Everton net. The action intensified in the second half.
