Early on, the hangover from the Texas A&M win was evident for Kentucky Football, which found itself trailing South Alabama after a start that left a lot to be desired. Thankfully, a strong end to the first half and a dominant second half pushed the Wildcats to a 45-21 win over the Jaguars. Kentucky started this game with error after error, muffing a punt, turning it over on downs early, and digging itself a hole. The first half was back and forth, with Kentucky giving South Alabama good field position and then striking back on offense. It looked like Kentucky would go into halftime down 21-14, but Jason Patterson had other plans. His response came on a 75-yard touchdown, led by a pancake block from Lance Heard, as he went untouched into the end zone. That would tie things up, then Grant Godfrey picked off South Alabama’s Jared Hollins for the Jaguars’ first turnover of the season.
