Kyla Dawn Named SEC Freshman of the Week – UK Athletics

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky forward Kyla Dawn has been named the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week after scoring a goal and notching two assists in the Wildcats’ 5-2 win over Kent State and two goals in 12 minutes in the 5-0 win at Dayton. This is the first SEC honor for Dawn, the native of Dallas. Other weekly award winners include Offensive Player of the Week Kyra Taylor from Florida and Defensive Player of the Week Jayden Emmanuel, a goalkeeper at Florida. Over the past week, Dawn has recorded eight points (three goals and two assists) in the team wins over Kent State and Dayton. She has proven to be a threat all over the field for the Wildcats with her assisting ability, accelerating speed, and offensive pressure that she has used to score and create plays for Kentucky. Dawn currently leads the squad as a freshman in overall points (10), goals (4), assists (2), shots on goal (7), and shots on goal percentage (87.5%).
