GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) — A Green Bay woman is warning pet owners about a scam targeting people who post about missing animals on social media, after she was nearly defrauded while searching for her lost Pomeranian on Mother’s Day. Holly said her 16-year-old dog, Rascal, got away from her around 7:30 a.m. She posted on Facebook asking for help. “Just panicking, that if anybody saw him to please contact me,” Holly said. A comment recommended a pet-finding service. She called the number. ‘Something’s fishy’ The company told Holly it had access to drones and would search for her dog right away. Shortly after, they called back. “They said that my dog was hurt on the side of the highway,” Holly said. “And there was a black car that had stopped, but they were unsure of the license plate or what make and model of the car.
