A Montreal-based civil lawyer arrested last week and facing several charges involving alleged sexual abuse of minors might have other victims, the Montreal police say. Daniel Rochefort, 72, was arrested by the Montreal police and was charged on Friday with producing “material of abuse and pedo-sexual exploitation” and corrupting children. On the latter count, he is alleged to have communicated with an investigator posing as a 12-year-old girl through telecommunication. He was detained over the weekend and when he appeared before a judge at the Montreal courthouse on Monday, he learned he faces another series of charges. In the more recent case, Rochefort faces four counts each of sexual interference and invitation to sexual touching. He is also charged with sexual assault. All of the charges involve the same person, a minor. The alleged offences took place between 2007 and 2012, and some are alleged to have taken place in a foreign country.
