A rural school district in Oklahoma went virtual temporarily after a threat surfaced online.Ninnekah Public Schools learned about the threat late Sunday night before making the decision to keep children off the grounds. KOCO 5 learned the threat came from a current student.After an hours-long investigation, police determined there was no credibility to the threat made online on Sunday. It was a quiet day in Ninnekah, with no children on the playground, no school buses en route and all of the school moving virtually for safety.”They told us there was a threat to the school and police were involved,” said Terry Jones, a parent.On Sunday night, Ninnekah Public Schools was made aware of a threat against the school by a current student on Snapchat. According to a statement from police, an administrator was forwarded a screenshot of a threatening social media text between two students.The threat spread quickly and the school went into action.”Last night around 9:30 p.m., I got another phone call or text that they were going virtual today just in case there was anything to the threat,” Jones said.Students stayed home Monday while authorities investigated the credibility of the threat.
