A social media post purporting to show an image of a phone screen with a message about a threat to commit a school shooting has been circulated around the country and may be a hoax, the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office said.The sheriff’s office received information about the image, which was seen on Snapchat, Thursday evening.”During the investigation, it was discovered that the Snapchat school threat is being sent across North Carolina and other states. The original threat does not mention a specific school,” the sheriff’s office said.As in any instance of a threat, precautions are being taken, the sheriff’s office said. Additional law enforcement are present on school campuses in Randolph County today.
