Judges have denied an appeal from David John Andrews, 56, a “heinous predator” found to have preyed on 47 victims – 46 of whom were children – to reduce a 27-year sentence he was handed last year. Andrews, from Northern Ireland, received the sentence after pleading guilty to 130 charges of sexual abuse. A court heard he posed as a 13-year-old to catfish young children. Lady Chief Justice Dame Siobhan Keegan described his offending as a “modern scourge of high seriousness directed at vulnerable children which requires punishment”, adding the high sentence was warranted.
