Snapchat drug gang member caught after Harrods trip to be extradited back to Pakistan

A member of a Glasgow-based drugs gang jailed for 31 years has lost his appeal to stay in the UK and now faces being sent back to his native Pakistan. Jamshaid Yaqoob was part of a seven-strong mob that raked in huge sums of money selling drugs on Snapchat. They were caught after undercover officers posed as customers, while one gangster was arrested at a safety deposit box at Harrods department store in London. Officers found £282,350 in cash, £63,000 of gold bars and £140,200 of Rolex and other luxury watches stashed inside. In August 2023, all seven pleaded guilty to being involved in serious organised crime in Glasgow and East Kilbride, South Lanarkshire. Judge Lord Clark at the High Court in Glasgow handed down sentences totalling 31 years, with Yaqoob, now aged 40, locked up for three years. His lawyer told the court he became involved after the pandemic affected his job as a taxi driver.
