Surat Crime Branch book 4 for allegedly spreading communal hate via WhatsApp

Surat: Surat crime branch has booked four members of a WhatsApp group of the Jain community for defamation and attempting to spread hostility between two religions after they allegedly made comments about donations to Ram Mandir. A textile merchant Champak Babulal Mehta from Adajan in Surat filed a complaint against four members of a WhatsApp group of his community at the Surat crime branch. The four members Yogesh Shah, Nikesh Shah, Naresh Jain alias DNR and other unidentified user are members of a WhatsApp group named PRATYUTTAR. The group is created by the devotees of Jain Shwetambar Ek Tithi Panth. The textile merchant stated in FIR that the messages related to religious festivals, tithi and religious services of their community are posted in the group. However, the accused users allegedly made offensive comments about religious Gurus. One of the accused allegedly commented that a political party gathers money in the name of Rama. The accused allegedly made insulting comments about the police also. Thus, the crime branch has filed a crime against the four users for allegedly making offensive comments about religious Gurus, hurting religious sentiments, and attempting to spread hatred between two religions.
