Rea Park’s makeover of its clubhouse took another step Thursday when Terre Haute’s Parks and Recreations Department’s Board gave the OK for the city’s board of works to begin advertising for contractors.City Planner Maitri Desai appeared before the board at a special meeting in the park offices at Fairbanks Park to explain the bidding and building timetable.She also said several contractors are already interested in the job. Earlier, the board approved a design by the architectural firm Sanders and Associates. The Terre Haute Board of Public Works will begin soliciting bids in early October and plans to announce the winner sometime on or around Nov. 13.Public works will keep the park board as well as Sanders and Associates in the loop throughout the process. Work on the refurbishment is expected to begin in December, with the project’s completion forecast to come sometime in mid- to late 2025.Construction work will be overseen by the city’s Engineering Department, as well as the architects.A temporary building will be ready to substitute for the clubhouse when the golf course reopens in April 2024.In other business, the Parks Board announced its new fee schedule.The new fee schedule will raise the rate to rent park shelters
