US envoy: ‘We have it down to one issue’ US envoy Steve Witkoff says negotiations around the war in Ukraine are down to just one issue now. Speaking in Davos, before heading to Moscow for talks with Vladimir Putin (see our previous post for more on that), Witkoff says that a lot of progress had been made and “we’re at the end now”. The two have been outriders for the US president during negotiations surrounding this war, meeting separately with Kyiv and Moscow over various draft plans to end Russia’s invasion. Putin, speaking at a ‍Russian Security Council meeting late yesterday, said that he would meet Witkoff and Kushner to “continue dialogue on the Ukrainian settlement” as well as Trump’s “Board of ‌Peace” idea and the possibility of using frozen Russian assets.
