In another strike against the ill-fated mobile game, a New Zealand streamer has spent £5,000 on Diablo Immortal and got nothing of value. Diablo Immortal, Blizzard’s new mobile game, has been mired in controversy ever since its announcement. The action role-playing game was released on June 2 and in the last few days has racked up a 0.7 audience score on Metacritic. Many of the issues stem from the game’s ludicrous microtransactions. Asmongold, a Twitch streamer known for his World Of Warcraft streams, proved that the game is pay-to-win by earning rare loot with a paid-for boost, but effectively nothing after the boost ended. Now, Twitch streamer Quin69 has spent $10,000 NZD (£5,137) on the game and got increasingly angry as he did so, earning absolutely nothing of value on the spending spree. In his stream, Quin was aiming to acquire some rare gems which are used to enhance equipment. The gems are split into star ratings depending on their rarity, with his money not being enough to get hold of a single five-star gem.
