Although the first day of official practice is now several weeks behind us, tonight felt like the real start of the year as the BBN got their first look of the team taking the floor. With plenty of new faces on this year’s roster, there are a lot of questions about how good they can be. In a small sample size this evening, you can see why Mark Pope and plenty of others around the sport are excited to see this team take the court for their first game. A different look compared to last season with the roster construction, the open practice really showed not only this team’s athleticism, but also this staff’s attention to the defensive end of the floor. Can they take a big jump on defense to put them into that top-tier national championship contender status? That sure seems like the plan. It is fun to see some UK basketball back on our TVs.
