Taylor police have confirmed that a 16-year-old student has been arrested in connection with a threat to shoot up Taylor High School, and another arrest made involving an online Snapchat threat. The high school threat was made Thursday and was found in a bathroom. When asked if he thought the threat was credible, Taylor Police Chief John Blair said, “it was explicitly specific.” The note mentioned shooting up the school on Jan. 6. It is not clear if the student was arrested at the school or at a different location. Since the school shooting in Oxford, in which four students were killed and seven injured, there have been more than a dozen threats made against Taylor schools. “This is about the fourth person we have taken into custody,” Blair said prior to announcing the Snapchat threat and arrest. After interviewing students suspected of making threats, Blair said many of them have said they were just kidding and/or didn’t mean it. Nevertheless, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office is not treating the incidents like a joke. More than two dozen students have been charged as a result of threats made against schools.
