YouTube Music Unveils Its Indie Class of 2021: Snail Mail, Sinead Harnett, Ambar Lucid, Many More

Sinead Harnett, Snail Mail, Ambar Lucid, Paris Texas and 23 other acts are members of YouTube Music’s Foundry Class of 2021, which focuses on independent artists. This year’s class is the largest to date, with 27 artists from 14 countries and multiple style of music,culled from the largest number of submissions the program has received yet. According to the announcement, as part of the program, artists will receive dedicated partner support from YouTube and seed funding invested into the development of their content. Since its beginnings in 2015 as a workshop series, Foundry has supported more than 150 developing artists across 15 countries, including Arlo Parks, Dave, Dua Lipa, Lime Cordiale, Gunna, HARDY, Natanael Cano, Novelbright, Omar Apollo, Rosalía, and Tems. “Foundry celebrates artists, their courage, and reduces barriers to entry,” the announcement reads. “This group of artists are driving their careers forward as independents, building communities that allow them freedom to grow on their own terms.
