Nevada's Sylvain Malroux wins Mountain West coach of the year honor

Nevada’s Sylvain Malroux was named the Mountain West men’s tennis coach of the year after his team’s record-breaking season.In the seventh season of his second tenure at Nevada, Malroux led the program to its first Mountain West titles and first NCAA Tournament appearance. The Wolf Pack won the MW regular-season and conference championships before losing to USC, 4-0, last Friday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The award was voted on by the conference’s head coaches.Nevada went 19-8 overall, including a 5-1 record in conference play. It won the MW’s automatic bid into the NCAA Tournament with a 4-3 win over New Mexico in the conference tournament championship match. Entering this season, Nevada had not won a conference championship in men’s tennis since 1982 when it was in the Big Sky.Under Malroux’s tutelage, the Wolf Pack had four players earn All-Mountain West honors in 2022.
