Albany Patroons recruited All-Star guard through Instagram – Times Union

ALBANY – With a little help from his wife, Albany Patroons general manager and head coach Will Brown convinced high-scoring guard AJ Mosby to sign with his team this season.Brown first reached out to Mosby on Instagram, the social networking service. After joining the Patroons, Mosby has become their scoring leader at 20.6 points per game and Albany’s only representative in The Basketball League’s All-Star Game against the National Basketball League Canada to be played Saturday at Liverpool High School, near Syracuse. “You know what? I guess I’ve got to give my wife (Jamie) the assist for that,” Brown said. “Because she’s like, ‘Listen, you’ve got to get on Instagram.’ I’m like, ‘I have enough trouble with Twitter.’ She’s like, ‘Everybody uses Instagram. Twitter’s good, but more people use Instagram.’ So I just signed up for an account.” Mosby, who is from Cartersville, Ga., played in college at Alcorn State. He spent last season with the TBL’s Shreveport Mavericks and averaged 24.3 points and 6.6 assists per game. He also works as an assistant coach for the girls’ team at his alma mater, Cartersville High School. Brown did his research by looking through last year’s TBL statistics, standings and rosters.…
