Apple’s New CEO Hasn’t Bothered to Update His LinkedIn Yet | PCMag

We’re often told LinkedIn is a crucial part of networking when you’re on the hunt for a big, exciting tech job, but Apple’s new CEO proves it’s not mandatory. John Ternus, who succeeded Tim Cook as CEO on Tuesday, has a LinkedIn profile, but it’s a pretty spartan affair and doesn’t list his current job title. Apple’s internal pages were updated immediately with the personnel change on Sept. 1, but Ternus’ LinkedIn lists him as VP of hardware engineering. That’s not even his most recent role at Apple; he was promoted to senior VP in 2021 before landing the CEO gig this year. In total, he’s been at Apple for more than 25 years. Ternus’ profile also mentions a four-year stint as an engineer at Virtual Research Inc. But that’s it for his career history on LinkedIn, with no mention of his many achievements, including his influence on household-name products like the Apple Watch and AirPods.
