PHOENIXVILLE — Many parents believe Snapchat is just a harmless app for sending silly photos and staying in touch with school friends, but the reality behind the screen is vastly different, according to an expert. Phoenixville Public Library will host a free presentation, “Snapchat Safety for Parents,” on Tuesday, Oct. 6, at 6:30 p.m., at the library, 183 Second Ave. The featured speaker, attorney Zachary Yurick, is a former Child Abuse Unit (CAU) prosecutor who now represents harmed families against Snap Inc. This session teaches parents exactly how predators manipulate features to target and exploit kids, alongside the very real warning signs of social media addiction. Attendees will walk away with practical, immediate strategies to actively monitor behavior and spot red flags. Yurick is a trial attorney who has spent his career serving as a voice for vulnerable children and crime victims. His work earned him the 2023 Prosecutor of the Year Award and the 2024 Crime Victim Advocacy Award.
