The Berlin Yacht Club (BYC) is marking its 75th anniversary, recognizing more than seven decades of sailing on Berlin Reservoir. The club was incorporated on November 22, 1950, and bought a former surplus army building in 1953. The clubhouse was moved to its current site with renovations happening in the mid-1950s. The boat launch ramp was built in 1968, giving members better access to the water. According to the release, the BYC has hosted regional sailing events over the years, including the National Flying Scot Husband/Wife Regatta in 1991, the Highlander Class National Championship in 2000 and 2017, and the Force 5 Regional Regatta in 2023. “Reaching 75 years is a remarkable milestone for the Berlin Yacht Club,” Lesa Miller, Past Commodore, said. “It reflects generations of shared passion for sailing and the strong community spirit our members have fostered.
