Imphal: BJP MLA Yumnam Khemchand has reiterated the Central Government’s firm commitment to restoring peace and normalcy in Manipur as the unrest in Manipur crosses the two-year mark since the Meitei-Kuki conflict erupted on May 3, 2023. Khemchand, in a press statement issued on Saturday, said the Centre has been actively pursuing multiple strategies to address the ongoing crisis, including intensified efforts to recover illegal arms and ammunition through coordinated search operations across both the valley and hill districts. “In the past month alone, a substantial quantity of arms and ammunition have been seized from various parts of the state,” he said, adding that recent recoveries from the hill districts marked a significant milestone. “These operations are essential to maintaining law and order and have restored hope among the public.” The MLA also highlighted the continued engagement by the Ministry of Home Affairs with leaders and representatives of various stakeholders, including civil society organisations. These peace dialogues have played an instrumental role in paving the way toward reconciliation, he said. He praised Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his “accountable and determined” leadership in handling the situation. “Shah Ji has taken several initiatives as a first step toward resolving the crisis.
