TORONTO — A pile of cardboard signs sat in the centre of the Toronto Blue Jays clubhouse, each emblazoned with a name. Between hugs and stifled tears, players walked up to sift through them. An hour after their season came to a devastating end on Saturday, with a 5-4 loss in 11 innings to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Jays wrote the final few signatures on each clubhouse nameplate. They’ll look up at those nameplates in a decade, reading “2025 World Series” written in stylized golden lettering. The signs will rest in basements and on mantles for years, collecting dust. But when they catch an eye, memories of a magical season will flood back. They’ll remind Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Bo Bichette of their rebound from 74 wins a year ago to a division title and the World Series stage. They’ll prompt recollections from Kevin Gausman and George Springer.
