Brother wants his sibling, charged in shooting death of their father in Romulus, behind bars

A family already grieving over the death of one of their own is being divided by family loyalty, according to a man refusing to stand by his brother charged in their father’s shooting death.Devon Hackney, 19, of Dearborn Heights, is facing one count of open murder and one count of felony firearm in the death of Alex Hackney of Romulus.The shooting occurred on April 21 in the 14000 block of Conover.Devon Hackney was arraigned in 34th District Court in Romulus on April 25 and was initially remanded to jail without bond.After an emergency bond hearing the following day, Judge Brian Oakley gave Hackney, accused of shooting his father three times in the chest at point-blank range, a $125,000/10-percent bond.He posted $12,500 and was released.He is required to wear a tether.Dylan Hackney, Devon Hackney’s brother, is devastated that the father he was just getting to have a relationship with is now gone and his brother is charged with shooting him.A commercial roofer for a company based out of Wixom, Dylan Hackney, 24, travels much of the year and was in New Mexico when he received a call from a family friend telling him that his father had been shot and his…
