‘We’re scared’: Friends who witnessed teen’s stabbing speak out after suspect released

The person suspected of killing 17-year-old Saef Kamil was released Wednesday after prosecutors found there wasn't enough evidence to charge him. COVINGTON, Wash. — The man suspected of stabbing a 17-year-old Skyline High School student to death has been released from custody, with prosecutors saying they lack sufficient evidence to file charges despite witness accounts and video of the confrontation. Saef Kamil of Sammamish was killed March 1 at the Timberlane Clubhouse in Covington. The 20-year-old suspect, arrested at the scene, was released Wednesday evening — the day after Kamil's burial — because prosecutors could not meet the 72-hour deadline to file charges under Washington court rules. "If we had the evidence from investigators, we would file that today," said Casey McNerthney, spokesperson for the King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office. "The reason why the sheriff's office investigation is still ongoing is because there's more to investigate." McNerthney said prosecutors need additional evidence beyond existing video footage. He said investigators are looking for additional video, witness statements and any physical evidence that could strengthen the case.  » Read More

Magnifica developers have purchase contract for Osceola ranchlands – GrowthSpotter

After the 2024 media blitz announcing one of the most ambitious, ultra-luxury developments in Osceola County history, the team behind Magnifica went quiet, leading many to question if the $1 billion development was really too good to be true. The plan, unveiled by CIG Companies founders Charles and Stacey Carey, calls for a gated golf community in Kissimmee with 250 mansions, 50 condos and high-end amenities and a sister resort across the street with a full spa and a mix of suites and resort residences. The project would rise on the 1,720-acre Brown Ranch Six property on Poinciana Boulevard, about 1.7 miles south of U.S. 192. Now comes a strong sign that Magnifica is moving ahead. Lakeland-based Saunders Real Estate represents the Brown family, descendants of pioneer cattle rancher Oren Brown, and has recently changed the property’s status from “for sale” to “under contract.” The 1,720-acre Brown Ranch Six property is currently under contract. It's proposed for a super-luxury golf and resort community called Magnifica. (Osceola County Property Appraiser) Officials with CIG Companies could not be reached for comment.  » Read More

Florida HC Jon Sumrall Makes Feelings Crystal Clear on Quarterback Battle – Roundtable

Florida HC Jon Sumrall Makes Feelings Crystal Clear on Quarterback Battle New Florida head coach Jon Sumrall is set to make a big decision before taking on Florida Atlantic in Week 1.  After DJ Lagway transferred to Baylor in the offseason, the Gators have a quarterback battle between redshirt freshman Tramell Jones Jr. and Aaron Philo. Philo transferred to Florida from Georgia Tech after his offensive coordinator with the Yellow Jackets, Buster Faulkner, joined Sumrall's staff with the same title. During an appearance on "Another Dooley Noted" podcast on Monday, Sumrall was asked if there was going to be a true competition on quarterback. Sumrall confirmed the Gators have no leader in the clubhouse before the 15 practices the team will get for spring football. “Yeah, it always is," Sumrall said. "I think a lot of people have some sort of assumption that one guy is the front, or we didn't take a snap yet. But here's the deal. "When I meet with players all the time,  » Read More

Oli Marmol quote about Cardinals’ clubhouse leadership gets taken out of context

Fresh off of a two-year extension, St. Louis Cardinals manager Oli Marmol is already making headlines with quotes. The St. Louis Cardinals are entering the 2026 season without your traditional veteran leader on the team. Gone are the days of All-Stars like Paul Goldschmidt, Nolan Arenado, Sonny Gray, Brendan Donovan, and Willson Contreras. The most experienced player on the team based on service time is Ryne Stanek, with just over eight years of service time. Only Stanek, Dustin May (six years), JoJo Romero (five years), and Ramon Urias (five years) have logged more than five years of service time in their careers. 22 of the 26 players on the Opening Day roster will still be in arbitration or pre-arbitration. Leadership, at least in the traditional sense, is scarce. That leaves it up to the coaching staff and long-time Cardinals to step up and lead the team, and manager Oliver Marmol believes this young crop of players is now ready to step up to the challenge. After several years in waiting,  » Read More

Seattle Mariners’ Donovan ‘tremendous’ add in clubhouse

Brendan Donovan has been making a good impression in his first spring training with the Seattle Mariners, and that’s not been limited to his playing ability. Mariners’ Gilbert working on pitches; Sloan strong in debut As committed as the 29-year-old All-Star utility man is about being Seattle’s new leadoff hitter and starting third baseman, he’s just as serious about his role as a teammate. That’s something that stood out in his Cactus League debut for the team last week, as he remained in the dugout even after being lifted from the game. It’s typical for veteran players to leave the field and go about their days after coming out of spring training contests, but Donovan saw it as an opportunity to learn more about the team. “I’m new here,” Donovan said about sticking around in the dugout. “I’m trying to see how people play, talk to and build relationships on a personal level, and I feel that’s important to do in the dugout too. I believe in getting to know someone as a person too and then you get to know them as a player as well.  » Read More
