Training camp has already heated up this summer, as the roster surprises and disappointments have taken over through eight practices. The early roster projections tell the story -- but so do the early winners and losers. There has been a lot going on in what has been a quiet camp for the Eagles. Position battles have began, but there are alreday early favorites -- and some may have the spot locked up. Here's how those position battles have stacked up through eight practices, and who are the leaders in the clubhouse. WR2The clubhouse leader: Dontayvion Wicks Wicks is going to be the WR2 come Week 1 at the rate he's going. He's seized control of the spot with his play in camp, stacking up practice after practice by continuing to make catches and being the most trusted receiver for Jalen Hurts. SEATTLE (AP) — Cedric Mullins’ RBI single in the fifth inning put Tampa Bay ahead and Ian Seymour pitched six innings of one-run ball as the Rays beat the Seattle Mariners 4-1 Sunday to complete a three-game series sweep. Tampa Bay Rays 4, Seattle Mariners 1: Box score Seymour settled in after a bumpy first inning. Taylor Ward opened the game with a triple and scored on Cole Young’s single to give Seattle a 1-0 lead. Dominic Canzone also had a single in the inning. Seymour (9-3) allowed just two hits the rest of the way, and finished with two walks and seven strikeouts. Steven Matz pitched the ninth to earn his first save of the season. Rays designated hitter Yandy Diaz tied the game at 1 with an RBI single in the fourth inning that scored Mullins. Mullins put the Rays ahead with a single off Mariners starter Emerson Hancock in the fifth that scored Junior Caminero. Tampa Bay finished with 14 hits. Less than 24 hours removed from an emotional call-up, the young shortstop made his first big-league impact. Kaelen Culpepper's first 24 hours as a Major Leaguer had just about everything you could expect from a player finally getting the call. Tears in a Triple-A clubhouse, a frantic trip to Milwaukee, a sellout crowd and, eventually, a bucket of mustard and baby powder waiting for him after the game. Somehow, the part that looked the most overwhelming was also the part where Culpepper seemed most comfortable. His first career hit for the Minnesota Twins came in his second at-bat Friday night, and it came after he fell behind Milwaukee left-hander Shane Drohan 0-2. The Seattle Mariners placed reliever Cole Wilcox on the 15-day injured list with a left oblique strain Friday. In a corresponding move, reliever Nick Davila was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma. M’s game, Alumni Home Run Derby airing on different streaming services The move with Wilcox comes a day after the right-hander had to be removed from his relief appearance against the Detroit Tigers mid at-bat. Wilcox had allowed three runs and recorded two outs in the top of the seventh before grabbing at his side after throwing a pitch and gingerly walking off the mound. After a meeting with a team trainer, he was pulled from the game in a 1-2 count. The 27-year-old Wilcox, who was acquired in a November 2025 with the Tampa Bay Rays, has a 4.00 ERA and 1.63 WHIP with 28 strikeouts to 17 walks over 27 innings pitched this season. Davila, 27, is up for his third stint with the Mariners this year. When Matt McLain was coming back from a calf injury in July, the initial plan was for him to go on a rehab assignment that would at least go through the rest of the month. Terry Francona said on July 27, “Get him through the weekend (Aug. 2), and then he’s at the manager’s discretion, which means you can turn him loose. We want him to play a little bit because I think it can be good for him.” The plan looked like it changed over the course of that week. The Reds optioned a struggling Edwin Arroyo on July 30 and activated McLain from the IL. “We obviously missed (McLain’s) defense,” Francona said when the Reds activated McLain last week. “We all want him to hit better, himself included. We don’t want him to try to get it all back in one game. Play the game. Be scrappy.” On Wednesday, in a 3-2 win for the Reds over the Athletics, a solo home run for McLain was the difference in the game.
