So now, not only did he break a record, but now he’s on the record, as Paul has said, ‘I’ve done my job,’” stated Abdul Qiyam Muhammad. “Coupled with the ever-changing national and world events,  » Read More

February 28, 2022 6:00am PT You may not have participated in the social audio trend since the earliest days of the pandemic, but it’s not like that content format has completely since died out.  LinkedIn last month started rolling out its Clubhouse-like offering, Audio Events, which allows users to broadcast audio-only during scheduled live events. Moreover, the Mark Cuban-backed Fireside app, which allows users to broadcast video or audio-only live, entered talks to raise about $25 million after launching in October, TechCrunch reported in late February.   Meanwhile, Facebook was offering to pay influencers five-figure checks to host sessions on its Clubhouse competitor Live Audio Rooms, The Information reported in November.   These developments only bring back to mind the great cooldown of Clubhouse, the platform that helped catalyze the Silicon Valley social audio craze in the first place.   While Clubhouse’s monthly global download total reached as high as 9.6 million in February 2021, the social audio app failed to match that total in any month during the remainder of that year,  » Read More

Negotiators have made significant progress in the last week on reviving the 2015 Iran nuclear deal but very tough issues remain, a senior US State Department official said on Friday. The US official said he hoped Iran’s lead negotiator would return in the coming days to Vienna, where the talks are taking place, “with a positive view” but that even if he did, there were still difficult issues on the table. “We hope that when Iran comes back, it comes back in with a pre-disposition to try to resolve this quickly,” the official told reporters on condition that he not be named. “But there were still disagreements for which there is not a solution that's on the table,” Reuters quoted him as saying. He declined to name the sticking points and would not be drawn on whether Washington had persuaded Tehran to agree to follow-on negotiations on its nuclear program, its development of ballistic missiles or support for regional proxies. The broad aim of the talks is to return to the original 2015 bargain of lifting sanctions against Iran,  » Read More

The voice-first social network has finally introduced a way for longtime lurkers to get in on the action. Clubhouse announced in-room chat Thursday, adding a text chat feature into its voice rooms that’s akin to what people might see on YouTube or Twitch.In-room chat is an optional feature, so anyone running a conversation on Clubhouse can toggle the option on when they kick off a room. When enabled, the button to access the chat box will live on the bottom left of the app, represented by a speech bubble next to the “clips” and “share” icons. Clubhouse calls the text chat option “another touchpoint” between creators on the platform and audience members. Like the additional of a direct messaging feature last year, it’s definitely a move toward expanding the app beyond its laser focus on audio — and also one toward making Clubhouse more accessible for more people. Many other social platforms have a running text chat box that accompanies content,  » Read More

MUMBAI: Observing that the offence was not committed against any individual but was against all women, a sessions court in Maharashtra's Mumbai this week refused to grant bail to a 19-year-old Haryana youth, Akash Suyal, arrested last month for allegedly using derogatory comments against women in audio chats on Clubhouse app. The court also said during the course of investigations, it was revealed that the youth's two IDs were closed down by the app for violation of conditions. "...(I)f the accused is granted bail, when the investigation is going on then it will create hurdle in investigation. Therefore, the prayer made by the accused for grant of bail cannot be allowed," additional sessions judge Sanjashree J Gharat said. Suyal had moved the sessions court after his plea was rejected by a magistrate's court. Referring to contents of the objectionable chats, the sessions court said that the communication reveals that Suyal was using defamatory, derogatory statement against womanhood.
