Washington St. building where the Naperville Woman’s Club meets dates back to the days of Naperville founder Joseph Naper. ● In 1841, the U.S. Congress passed the Preemption Act, which allowed Joseph Naper to acquire a 160-acre tract of land on Feb. 7, 1842, at a cost of $200 or $1.25 per acre. The lot where the church/clubhouse was later built is part of Joe Naper’s parcel. ● On Dec. 10, 1842, the tract was deeded to Charles B. Hosmer, who subdivided the property into 50-by-150-foot lots. Mark Cuban’s interactive platform Fireside, which helps creators reach audiences through live and virtual shows, is in talks to raise its Series A financing round and plans to make a push into web3 and metaverse, two sources familiar with the matter said. Fireside is engaging with investors to raise about $25 million at a valuation of $125 million, the sources said, requesting anonymity, as the deliberations are ongoing and private. The platform has been able to attract a number of high-profile creators, including Jay Leno, Michael Dell and screenwriter and Entourage creator Doug Ellin. Organizers aim to normalize diverse views on faith A loosely organized group of Arabic speakers “la Deeni” (“of no religion”) kicked off its first online protest Tuesday under the hashtags #WeAreHere and #22Feb22. The idea for the protest began on the Clubhouse audio chat room app and grew to include many social media platforms.The activists declared Tuesday the International Day of Nonreligious Arabic Speakers.“La Deeni is a term that unites many who do not believe in any religion, for example, the atheist, the agnostic, and the deist, who believes that there is a first cause for this universe without believing in any religion, in addition to other categories,” one of the organizers explained to The Media Line.This is the first year of this protest. Organizers aim to normalize diverse religious views and count the number of those who have moved away from organized religion in the region.
