What a drag: Facebook takes down Hennessy's page after receiving complaints

Hennessy’s Irish Pub in Merida, Yucatán. Photo: Facebook Facebook took down the Hennessy’s Irish Pub page after receiving complaints about its upcoming drag trivia night, the restaurant’s owner said. Sean Hennessy said that right-wing activists in the United States targeted his page, reporting it as offensive. A “war on drag” is currently underway north of the border, where cross-dressing bans are being pushed in Tennessee and Texas, among other jurisdictions.   But he never expected Facebook — or its bots — to remove his page, even if it’s just temporarily. Followers urged him to submit an appeal. “I am in shock that a business page can be treated this way and would love to know what community standard we broke,” Hennessy posted on his personal Facebook page. “Drag is very much part of the Mexican community and my community. I am outraged.” Sean Hennessy. Who has over half all Arm server CPUs in the world? Amazon • The Register – Theregister

Amazon is the most successful manufacturer of Arm server chips, accounting for just over half of Arm-based server CPUs currently deployed, while some chipmakers are also now betting on Arm-based Windows PCs. This information comes from a report issued by Bernstein Research which estimates that nearly 10 percent of servers across the world contain Arm processors, and 40 percent of those are located in China, as we reported earlier. But that total is beaten by just one company – Amazon – which has slightly above 50 percent of all Arm server CPUs in the world deployed in its Amazon Web Services (AWS) datacenters, said the analyst. Amazon currently uses its own Graviton family of chips, designed by the Annapurna Labs division of Amazon Web Services and introduced to the world back in 2018, which are for its own internal use only. The latest iteration is the Graviton3E for high-performance computing applications, introduced towards the end of 2022. According to Bernstein, because these chips were optimized for the specific needs of AWS,  » Read More

The Hidden Spam Tab in Facebook Messenger – Fagen Wasanni Technologies

Facebook Messenger, the popular messaging app, has a hidden spam tab that many users may not be aware of. This spam tab filters messages from unknown senders or messages that are suspected to be spam. The spam tab is designed to protect users from unwanted messages and potential scams. It separates these messages from the main inbox, ensuring that users only see messages from their friends and trusted sources in the primary tab. This hidden spam tab works by using an algorithm that analyzes different factors, such as the sender’s activity, message content, and other signals, to determine if a message is a potential spam. If a message is flagged as spam, it is automatically moved to the spam tab and is hidden from the main inbox. To access the hidden spam tab, users need to open the Facebook Messenger app and tap on their profile picture in the top left corner. From there, they can select “Message Requests” and then “Spam” to view the filtered messages. While the hidden spam tab can effectively filter out unwanted messages,  » Read More
