(AP) - Bones and skulls visible in the back seat of a car near an abandoned cemetery on Philadelphia’s outskirts led police to a basement filled with body parts, which authorities say were hoarded by a man now accused of stealing about 100 sets of human remains. Officers say a Tuesday night arrest culminated a monthslong investigation into break-ins at Mount Moriah Cemetery, where at least 26 mausoleums and vaults had been forced open since early November. Investigators later searched the Ephrata home and storage unit of Jonathan Christ Gerlach, 34, and reported finding more than 100 human skulls, long bones, mummified hands and feet, two decomposing torsos and other skeletal items. “They were in various states. Some of them were hanging, as it were. Some of them were pieced together, some were just skulls on a shelf,” Delaware County District Attorney Tanner Rouse said. CORAL GABLES, Fla. – University of Miami third baseman Daniel Cuvet has been named a Preseason First Team All-American by Perfect Game, marking the second consecutive season he has earned preseason first-team recognition from the organization. Cuvet is coming off a standout sophomore campaign in which he emerged as one of the nation’s most productive hitters. In 2025, he started 61 games for the Hurricanes and posted a .372 batting average with 84 hits, 18 home runs, 84 RBI, 20 doubles and a .708 slugging percentage, while reaching base at a .450 clip. Cuvet’s 84 RBI during the 2025 season ranked fifth-most in a single season in Miami history, while his 42 career home runs are tied for seventh all-time at Miami following his sophomore year. He recorded 26 multi-hit games and 22 multi-RBI performances, including 10 games with at least three RBI. OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An Appleton man was arrested, accused in a series of Facebook Marketplace cellphone thefts in Oshkosh. Last month, police say three thefts of cell phones occurred where the victims posted a cell phone for sale on Facebook Marketplace and arranged to meet with a buyer. When the victims met with the suspect, he took the phones without paying for them and got away. The thefts occurred on Dec. 22, 2025, Dec. 24, 2025, and Dec. 27, 2025 at E Parkway/ Monroe Street, in the 600 Block of E Parkway, and in the 700 Block of Wright Street. Based on the investigation, a 31-year-old Appleton man was taken into custody by Fox Crossing Police on Jan. 2. He was arrested on two counts of theft, strong-armed robbery, and nine counts of misdemeanor bail jumping. It was discovered that the suspect had created and used several fake Facebook accounts to facilitate the transactions. Police say there are numerous scams involving online purchases on platforms like Facebook Marketplace.  » Read More

(KNSI) – Stearns County closed on the property near County Roads 134 and 75 that will become the new Justice Center on Monday. On its Facebook page, the county posted a picture of Auditor-Treasurer Randy Schreifels, Board of Commissioners President Jeff Bertram, and Building Facilities Manager Kevin Korneck with pen in hand, as they signed the purchase agreement for the land. The county had to wait until the City of St. Cloud agreed to annex the property from neighboring St. Joseph Township before it could finalize the agreement. County officials spoke in favor of that move at the St. Cloud City Council meeting on December 15th. The unanimous vote paved the way for the deal, which Administrator Mike Williams thought could happen later that week. Instead, it took until the first full week of 2026. The project is being paid for through a 3/8-cent sales tax.
