OCONALUFTEE VISITOR CENTER REOPENS AS GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN ENDS According to the post, two of the millipedes have only been found in one location, while the other two have been found throughout the park. The discoveries were made possible through the park's ongoing All Taxa Biodiversity Inventory (ATBI) and Discover Life in America (DLIA) initiatives. The national park says the discovery was made possible because of Georgia College and State University & Hampden-Sydney College. December 20, 2025 / 5:26 PM MST / CBS Colorado Add CBS News on Google One of two men accused of robbing an Aurora woman who was selling jewelry out of her home has been found guilty on multiple felony charges. Investigators said Frayer Contreras-Gafaro and another man went to an apartment in the 1300 block of N. Laredo Street last June in response to a woman's Facebook advertisement to sell jewelry. Authorities said both men pulled out firearms, demanded the jewelry, and ordered the woman's two children into a nearby room. The woman told police that the men threatened her children, stating that if they screamed, she would be killed. Authorities said the suspects made off with approximately $20,000 worth of jewelry. When Sheikh Mohammed Abu Mustafa stepped out of his mosque in southern Gaza after leading afternoon prayers in early November, a gunman on a motorcycle pulled up and shot him dead. It was a targeted assassination that that an Islamist militant group said was carried out by local Israeli-backed militia. A Hamas-linked group later claimed that the slain imam was a jihadist who had concealed Israeli hostages during the Gaza war, and accused the hitman of belonging to a new Israeli-supported militia led by Hussam Al-Astal – a former prisoner in Hamas-ruled Gaza who is now openly working to topple the militant group that has ruled the territory with an iron first for nearly two decades. In a phone interview with CNN, Al-Astal denied that his men assassinated Sheikh Abu Mustafa but said he welcomed the death of any Hamas member. FORT COVINGTON, New York (WWNY) - Educators in the Salmon River Central School District have been placed on administrative leave, and the superintendent has been reassigned amid allegations that special needs students were restrained in wooden boxes at school. In addition, the district has shifted to remote learning for Friday. “The Salmon River Central School District Board of Education has launched an investigation into the conduct of school administrators following allegations of student mistreatment in the district,” the board stated. The board said it’s in response to allegations that students were restrained and secluded inside wooden boxes used as “calming stations.” Officials said a law firm is conducting the investigation. The board said it’s also cooperating with the state Department of Education’s probe. After learning about the allegations, the board said it “reassigned Superintendent of Schools Dr. Stanley Harper to home duties pending the full investigation. HAGERSTOWN- Police in the City of Hagerstown are warning of a new type of scam that has seen a sharp rise on the streets of Washington County. HPD say that they have identified a recent pattern of thefts involving the legal sale of dirt bikes via Facebook Marketplace, the social media platform that allows account holders to sell, swap, and trade items without going through another broker. HPD say that the seller and “buyer” agree to meet, with that fake buyer requesting a test ride. After getting on the bike, however, the buyer fails to return the bike and rides off, leaving the legal owner high and dry.
