Two men are still at large after robbing and shooting a man near the 1900 block of E 33rd Street Saturday night. Chattanooga police say the incident happened just before 10:00pm. First responders found the victim at a gas station on Rossville Boulevard with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. He told officers that he had been communicating with someone on Facebook, and when he arrived at the location they agreed to meet up, two unidentified men held him at gunpoint. Police say the suspects stole items from the victim, then shot at him as the victim drove off in his car. We've asked the department if the victim was trying to sell something on the platform's marketplace. They said the exact circumstances are still unknown. On Thursday night, in the first round of the 2025 NCAA Volleyball Tournament, Kentucky struggled on offense in the beginning of the match. The Cats relied on a stellar defensive effort until the offense got going in a 3-0 win over Wofford. Kentucky experienced no such issues on Friday. Junior Brooklyn DeLeye tied her career high with 30 kills and Eva Hudson had 27, one short of her career best, as the Cats topped UCLA in four sets. As a team, UK hit .400, including a sizzling .643 in the fourth set. UK head coach Craig Skinner loved the effort of his two All-Americans. “I give these two (Hudson and DeLeye) a lot of credit for carrying the offensive load and bailing us out of some situations, which was huge,” Skinner said. “And Kassie was giving them hittable balls and our secondary setters also were a huge part of that match. Strangers came together to help a Rio Grande Valley man pay for trucking school. Roberto Yzaguirre just finished his first week at a CDL school. He's tried going for several years, but it all became a reality last week. A Facebook post showing him in Weslaco went viral and changed his life. "I really wasn't expecting that, it was really like overwhelming at first, but I got it as a sign from God, like 'hey, calm down I got your back'," Yzaguirre said. The picture showed him outside a convenience store next to his water cooler with a sign asking for donations to attend CDL school. Seeing himself online was a spotlight he wasn't expecting. "At first I was kind of shy, I was kind of, I guess like nervous, because I didn't know how the community would see it," Yzaguirre said. KISSIMMEE, Fla. – A hostage situation broke out at a Kissimmee apartment complex on Friday morning, ultimately leading to the suspect being shot and killed by deputies, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies told News 6 that they responded to the Jamison Apartments near Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway and Partin Settlement Road around 10:40 a.m. to “investigate a domestic battery.” But when deputies tried to contact the 30-year-old suspect, he shut and locked the apartment door, deputies added. “We monitored the suspect as he went on Facebook Live,” investigators wrote. “He made suicidal remarks and displayed a handgun.” Throughout the day, hostage negotiators and family members tried to convince the suspect to put down his firearm and surrender to deputies, according to the sheriff’s office. BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Roy Kramer, who served as the sixth commissioner of the Southeastern Conference as well as athletic director at Vanderbilt University, passed away Thursday at the age of 96. Kramer was a pioneer in the world of college athletics whose vision and leadership helped shape a new era for college sports. Among his many accomplishments, he was the architect of the first conference championship game in NCAA Division I-A history, after the SEC expanded to 12 teams in 1992. Kramer died two days before the SEC is to play the 34th game in the history of that championship event. Born on Oct. 30, 1929, in Maryville, Tennessee, Kramer’s lifelong devotion to the game of football began early and carried him from high-school sidelines to the highest echelons of collegiate sports leadership.
