Ambler official resigns after controversial Facebook post after murder of Charlie Kirk – 6ABC

AMBLER, Pa. (WPVI) -- A Montgomery County Democratic official has resigned from one of her positions after her social media comments set off a wave of response. Ambler Tax Collector Jennifer Stomsky made comments pointed at her own Democratic Party after the murder of political activist Charlie Kirk. One expert says situations like this have been unfolding across the country. "Obviously America is polarized, probably more polarized than any time in my lifetime," said Chris Satullo, director of the "Can we Talk?" program, which is operated by the non-partisan, nonprofit Committee of 70. America has seen political tensions escalate by violent acts, but speaking in the aftermath of those acts can have its own political consequences. Stomsky's now-deleted post calls on people in her own Democratic party to "get a expletive spine." The post went on to say, "I'm so tired of being told that violence isn't the answer.... History is filled with blood." Replying to a commenter on her post, Stomsky wrote, "Let's make some more martyrs." "I think when people start thinking about that,  » Read More

Bernville Mayor’s Facebook post following Kirk assassination sparks controversy

BERNVILLE, Pa. - Bernville mayor Shawn Raup-Konsavage is once again in the spotlight for comments on his social media page after Charlie Kirk's assassination. The post read: "This is what MAGA represents, This is what Trump lowered flags for. If this represents you then I don't want to hear that you are offended that I'm glad he is gone" and included a clip of Kirk. The post has gained a lot of attention online. This isn't the first time he made a controversial post. After the assassination attempt of President Trump in western Pennsylvania in July of 2024, he posted "Try harder." "That Trump post that he had posted there was a lot of controversy with that in this town, a lot of hatred towards him after that," said Mark Rodriguez, who lives in Bernville. This latest post drew mixed reactions. "He said what he wanted to on his own Facebook page which is freedom of speech and all that, but I certainly don't agree with it and I think what he said was terrible," said Bernville council vice president Wayne Lesher.  » Read More
