The chief executive of an Australian crypto charity has resigned after posting a series of offensive remarks against women in tech, which his own company has described as “misogynistic”.Sam Joel, founder and CEO of GiveTree—a “game for good” in the Metaverse where a percentage of every transaction goes to charity—made the comments in response to an article that was shared on LinkedIn about women in start-ups featuring the high-profile scientist-turned-venture capitalist Elaine Stead.“Get off your period. Get good. Earn your salary with skill, not PR lol. Pathetic,” he wrote to Third Hemisphere founder and managing director Hannah Moreno, according to The Australian Financial Review who first reported the story.Joel deleted the bulk of his comments on Sunday, before stepping down from his role on Tuesday afternoon. However several media outlets have reviewed screenshots of his offensive posts, including “bang you then abortion.”“Are you single?,” Joel allegedly responded to a LinkedIn comment. “Should we make a better baby? On Tuesday, Nov. 7, The Racquet Press sat down with Third-year Student Justin Poley to inquire about his position as the district five supervisor for the La Crosse County Board.  Poley is a political science major with a double minor in legal studies and public administration. As a student at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Poley said that he is in a unique position to represent UWL students on the La Crosse County Board. Poley said his new position as the district five supervisor is a great opportunity to put his public administration skills to work in a practical setting. “I didn’t know if anyone else was going to be applying for it and I wanted to make sure there was a student voice in that group of people. It’s 30 people, so to have just one student, it’s really important to have that student seat filled,” said Poley.  As a supervisor on the La Crosse County Board, Poley attends three meetings over the course of two weeks each month. Muhammad Mohsin Butt A business school in Pakistan has fired a marketing professor after finding he had “damaged the repute” of the university and its scholarly journal, Retraction Watch has learned.  In a LinkedIn post, Muhammad Mohsin Butt, the now-fired professor, shared a picture of the table of contents of a 2015 issue of Business Review, published by the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), in Karachi. The contents listed seven case studies authored by two other professors at the school:  The two authors are still employed at IBA: Nasir Afghan as an assistant professor of marketing, and Mohammad Asad Ilyas as registrar.  The journal issue “once existed but was taken back immediately after its release internally,” the school’s inquiry found, although the articles’ authors and a former editor of the journal deny this action constituted retraction.  Hilal Butt (no relation to Mohsin Butt), chair of IBA’s finance department and the editor of IBA Business Review at the time of the LinkedIn post, replied with a link to the online table of contents for the issue. From tipoff to slam dunks! Service members took to the court during the 2023 Armed Forces Men's and Women's Basketball Championships at Fort Moore, Georgia. Soldiers, Marines, sailors, airmen, guardians and Coast Guardsmen battled it out for the top prize. In the end, Marine Corps men and Air Force women took gold. It was a historic win for both teams because it was the first time in 20 years the Marine Corps won and 11 years since Air Force took gold.  For the men, Navy took second and Army took third. TCU’s digital channels were big winners for this year’s Education Digital Marketing Awards. The university communication department and the admission marketing department both received multiple recognitions.   TCU social channels hit a grand slam, earning gold for its Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter accounts. The university TikTok account received bronze recognition.  TCU Today, the university’s thrice weekly newsletter for faculty and staff, was recognized with a silver award.   The university admission marketing office also received several honors, including a silver for its online Horned Frog Blog targeting perspective students. The team also earned bronze for its Instagram and for a digital marketing campaign geared toward increasing fall campus visits.  “These awards not only show the talent and skill we possess on our teams, but also the success TCU is having connecting with important audiences across multiple digital platforms,” said Tracy Syler-Jones, vice chancellor for marketing and communication. “From social media to internal communication to admission marketing, we are producing award-winning work in the digital space.”   The Education Digital Marketing Awards received entries from colleges, universities and secondary schools across the country. Judges consisted of a national panel of education marketers, advertising creative directors and marketing and advertising professionals.
