Walter Isaacson: Key to Elon Musk, Bill Gates, Steve Jobs success – CNBC

Elon Musk, Bill Gates and the late Steve Jobs all have one personality trait in common — and it might be a clue to their ability to amass so much success. That's according to author and historian Walter Isaacson who wrote Jobs' biography and is working on one about Musk. Isaacson says that Musk — like both Jobs and Gates — is unemotional when dealing with employees or colleagues, and uncompromising when it comes to fulfilling his grand vision for his businesses."That ability to not be as emotionally, empathetically engaged in order to see vision through. It's something Steve Jobs had, it's something Bill Gates ," Isaacson said on CNBC's "Squawk Box" on Tuesday. "It's something a lot of these people have, because they're not looking for affection from the person sitting across from them. They're looking to get rockets to Mars."In the past, some of Musk's employees at Tesla have described him as an extreme micromanager who isn't shy about expressing his displeasure when workers fall short of his lofty standards, or fail to meet his overly ambitious deadlines. He can be harsh, and not always easy to work for, but also often inspiring and funny, employees have said. That sounds…

EqualOcean·LinkedIn|Event Preview: Global Business Collaboration and Diverse Team Building

On September 16, EqualOcean and LinkedIn will hold a offline panel on the theme of "Global Business Collaboration and Diverse Team Building", and enterprises dedicated to foreign trade and global business or those who have related plans are welcomed to register.Under the impacts of the pandemic and regional conflicts, regional economies around the world have been confronted with disruptions to supply chains and inflation in 2022. Domestic contradictions have given rise to the call for "reverse globalization".As a significant force for global economic prosperity and social governance, China's choice will be crucial: to firmly promote global collaboration and mutual benefit, or to be involved in the prisoner's dilemma of trade and tariff wars?In EqualOcean's eyes, the temporary pullback in global trade and economic relations is due to the fact that they are evolving and rebuilding towards a more equal and open direction. The stability of supply chains in different regions and the international economy are interdependent among nations and regions.  This phenomenon is a testament to the high degree of division of labor and collaboration in the global economy.According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development(2022), global trade reached a record high of USD 28.5 trillion in 2021, an…

For media publishers, Twitter still dominates on social – Axios

Data: Axios; Chart: Tory Lysik/Axios, NOTE: Analysis includes social followings of 82 publishers, including most major U.S. news networks, magazines, newspapers, and digital-first news companiesTwitter is still the place where media publishers collectively have the largest audiences, followed by Facebook and Instagram, according to an Axios analysis of 82 major news, entertainment and sports publishers. Why it matters: While some publishers are finding quick success on TikTok, the platform yields fewer overall followers for publishers than other social platforms.Details: Roughly one-quarter of media outlets analyzed do not have official TikTok accounts. Many that do still have relatively small followings.Every publisher observed has a Twitter account, and the vast majority have YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts.More people follow news, sports and entertainment publishers on LinkedIn than TikTok, per the analysis.Yes, but: Publishers' low follower counts on TikTok could stem from many outlets choosing to not yet invest meaningfully in it.TikTok's algorithm is arguably more unpredictable than Twitter's, and it's more known as a platform for entertainment rather than hard news.Follower count also doesn't necessarily speak to engagement. The big picture: The analysis finds that media success varies dramatically by publisher type. Most of the top LinkedIn publishers by followers are business and finance…

A spoof LinkedIn post generator gets a serious acquisition – ISRAEL21c

“Viral Marketing is my cup of tea,” Tom Orbach shares on his LinkedIn profile. That may be the understatement of the year. Orbach, 27, the growth marketing manager at Tel Aviv-based data privacy company Mine used his spare time to build LinkedIn Viral Post Generator, a working website intended to poke fun at obnoxious, clichéd or self-aggrandizing posts. Originally launched in Hebrew last February, LinkedIn Viral Post Generator uses artificial intelligence to generate spoof posts after users input just three pieces of info: what they did today, what piece of inspirational advice they can offer, and what cringe level (on a sliding scale) they’re after. When an English version of LinkedIn Viral Post Generator was introduced August 15 on Twitter (“After analyzing 100,000+ viral posts on Linkedin, this AI can write a cringeworthy post — based on YOUR boring life!” Orbach promised) it was an instant hit. More than a million people with “boring lives” used the tool to create hilarious posts like this one: I used a LinkedIn viral post generator for an ad agency exec who needed to do layoffs. The results were perfect. pic.twitter.com/wrGUpVe5zx — Jameson Fleming (@JamesonFleming) August 22, 2022 . And within a very short time,…

LinkedIn partners with Malaysia-based rectech Hiredly – AIM Group

LinkedIn has announced a partnership with Malaysia-based hybrid rectech firm Hiredly (formerly WOBB), to engage prospective employers and generate a steady pipeline of leads. Hiredly says it has adopted a robust targeting, bidding, and message-personalization strategy, which has seen it deliver twice as high lead-generation form-fill rates as platform benchmarks and a 70% marketing qualified leads-to-sales qualified leads (MQL-to-SQL) conversion rate. Founded in 2014, Hiredly provides job-matching and other AI-powered recruitment services for junior- to mid-level management. A few months ago it announced an investment from Persol Group and a follow-on investment from a Japan-based corporate VC firm, CAC Capital. “LinkedIn is our top choice as a b-to-b advertising platform. The professional audience makes it a natural fit with our business. And with seven out of ten MQLs converting into SQLs, it is incomparable to other channels.” said Eleanor Eyu, senior executive, brand and communication at Hiredly. The Malaysia-based rectech company recently announced a series of new appointments to its advisory board and management team. Andrea Ross was made an advisory board member, Yu Jing Ying became vice president of finance, Keith Leong was appointed sales director, Adeline Wong, team lead, and Joann Teoh, people and culture manager.

Kyiv says recapture of Izyum district 'ongoing' in east Ukraine | The Straits Times

KYIV - Ukrainian forces kept pushing north in the Kharkiv region and advancing to the south and east of the country after the swift fall of Russia’s main bastion in the north-east, Ukraine’s army chief said on Sunday. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky hailed Russia’s retreat from the city of Izium in the Kharkiv province as a breakthrough in the six-month-old war, saying this winter could bring more rapid gains of territory if Kyiv can get more powerful weapons. “In the Kharkiv direction, we began to advance not only to the south and east, but also to the north. There are 50km to go to the state border (with Russia),” Ukraine’s chief commander General Valeriy Zaluzhnyi said on Telegram. He said the country’s armed forces have regained control of more than 3,000 sq km since the beginning of this month. The fall of Izium marked Russian forces’ worst defeat since they were pushed back from the capital Kyiv in March, as thousands of Russian soldiers left behind ammunition and equipment as they fled. “I believe that this winter is a turning point, and it can lead to the rapid de-occupation of Ukraine,” Zelensky said in comments to a political forum published on his…
