MUMBAI: India plans to restrict sugar exports for the first time in six years to prevent a surge in domestic prices and could cap this season's exports at 8 million tonnes, government and industry sources told Reuters. An announcement could come early next month, they said. Shares in sugar manufacturers slid on the news, with Dhampur Sugar Mills and Balrampur Chini each tumbling 5 per cent and Dwarikesh Sugar losing 6 per cent. "Sugar output is going to be a record high, but stocks are depleting fast because of exports. Uncontrolled exports could create scarcity and local prices could spike during festive season," said a senior government official with knowledge of the matter who asked not to be identified. Two of three sources said the government has planned a cap of 8 million while one official said the government is also exploring the option of a levy on exports to discourage overseas sales. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry did not immediately respond to a request for comment. A cap of 8 million tonnes for the marketing year to end-September could result in a de facto ban for exports from May as dealers say mills have already contracted to export…

The Great Resignation — which saw droves of workers leaving their jobs or switching careers during the post-pandemic era — is far from over, and job loyalty may be a "thing of the past," as one industry expert puts it.According to a recent survey by Microsoft, 52% of young people polled, namely Gen Z and Millennials workers, said they were likely to consider changing employers this year. "This is a defining time in public safety and the City of Portland," said Chief Chuck Lovell. "We have been hiring, but now with some enhancements, we are able to increase this process and bring on the next generation of police officers." As part of this new hiring effort, the Bureau hired seven background investigators on March 17, 2022, added staff to the Personnel Division and is re-launching its hiring website, social media and recruitment materials. #M&A Buyout of Oribi will accelerate LinkedIn’s marketing attribution capabilities; a new LinkedIn office will be established in Israel. In its first Israeli acquisition Microsoft-owned LinkedIn is acquiring Israeli marketing analytics platform Oribi for $80 million. Founded in 2016 by Iris Shoor, Oribi develops technology to collect data on users’ online behavior, helping companies optimize their marketing campaigns. LinkedIn, the world’s largest professional network, plans open a new center in Tel Aviv that initially will employ 50 people including Shoor and several other Oribi staffers. The acquisition was led by Tomer Cohen, chief product officer at LinkedIn. He blogged that the deal is meant to further help LinkedIn customers, “from marketers to recruiters, gain actionable insights, make smarter decisions and drive business results.” More than 57 million global businesses build their brands on LinkedIn. “Oribi’s team brings deep analytics expertise that will help us accelerate the capabilities of our attribution technology across our lines of business — from helping a marketer find better leads to a recruiter identifying the right candidates. The acquisition will expand our international presence so we can continue delivering products that meet the evolving needs of our global customers and members,” Cohen wrote.
