Jobs: Flexibility, Skills, Entrepreneurship Will Shape Labour Market In 2022 … – Forbes India

The demand for hybrid work has seen monumental growth in 2021 as 86 percent of professionals believe the model will help them strike the right balance between personal and professional livesImage: Ruhani Kaur/ Bloomberg/ Getty ImagesThe year 2021 showed us how quickly things could change and how important it was for everyone to stay on guard against an unpredictable crisis. Our patterns of work and life have changed, and people around the world are re-evaluating their personal and professional priorities. We call it the ‘Great Reshuffle’, where people are rethinking not just how they work—and where they work—but why they work. The result? We saw job transitions in India up by 107 percent in October 2021 as compared to October 2019 with an increasing shift towards entrepreneurship, and more demand for flexibility and well-being. As these new workforce trends and priorities shape the future of work, we must recognise that talent is in incredibly high demand now, and will be for the foreseeable future—we are in the tightest labour market in recent memory, and we expect it to get even tighter in 2022. Executive teams will increasingly make hiring, development and retention of talent a top strategic imperative. Against this…

Il Makiage parent company charts path for massive growth with new investors and brands – Glossy.co

Oddity, the parent company behind DTC makeup brand Il Makiage, has secured a $130 million secondary-market private round as it seeks to diversify its investors and expand its business model. On Monday, Oddity announced billionaire entrepreneur Thomas Tull, investment firm Franklin Templeton, Fidelity Management and First Light Capital Group as new investors. Up until now, private equity group L Catterton has been the only outside investor in the business, investing $44 million since 2017. Oddity is not issuing new shares as a secondary fundraise; instead, L Catterton’s ownership of the company is being reduced from a 35.8% stake to 27.8%. Oran Holtzman, CEO and co-founder of Oddity, said he wanted to diversify the company’s investors to bring in additional expertise, but he declined to elaborate. He noted that L Catterton did not ask to sell its shares and that it was a strategic business choice for Oddity. In Dec. 2020, Holtzman confirmed that Il Makiage had contracted Centerview Partners and Goldman Sachs to explore deal options, including a potential sale of an initial public offering. Holtzman declined to provide updates on the IPO or sales plans. Il Makiage reported $260 million in 2021 revenue and is profitable. Oddity plans to…

Muskegon Risers find first win ever over Chicago in home opening weekend grudge match …

By Jason Goorman LoalSportsJournal.com The arena soccer show in downtown Muskegon is back in action. Muskegon Risers fans and players have been itching for action to start up again at Mercy Health Arena and all were well satisfied after Saturday’s exciting night. The Risers hosted Chicago and did not disappoint with an 11-10 win that went down to the wire on the second night of the team’s home opening weekend. Muskegon fell 8-5 on Friday night to visiting Cleveland.  Muskegon’s win over Chicago was especially sweet because it was the first time in franchise history the team has beaten the Mustangs. Spring Lake’s Ryan Zietlow gave the Risers offense ample support and inspiration, netting four goals including the game winner. Zietlow’s inspired play combined with his team’s desire to beat Chicago for the first time, rubbed off on everyone in the building including forward Miguel Flores and defenseman Cody Loss. The pair played with a certain intensity that fans and teammates fed off of. Flores rushed the Chicago net hard throughout the contest, setting up a number of exciting breakaways that put a lot of pressure on the Chicago defense. “Just be tenacious,” said Flores about his high-intensity play that…

LinkedIn is about to launch a Clubhouse-style live audio room feature, releasing the audio version first this month. It is the first major social network to be blocked by Russian authorities. PHOTO: REUTERS LinkedIn will soon launch a Clubhouse-style live audio room feature which the company has been working on for a while.  The company will announce an audio-only version this month in beta. The video version of the product will launch in spring this year.  The platform is trying to get more users to sign up to their network by launching a new events platform, which will include a listing, hosting, marketing interactive live virtual events, the company told TechCrunch. Jake Poses, the product manager said in an interview, "We want to make it easier to host virtual round tables, fireside chats, and more. Some may want the event to be more formal, or less formal. Some might want to communicate with their audience, to open up to the floor. We’re giving professionals interactivity and support.” In the last year, LinkedIn has been experimenting with features that they might add to the event like a paid ticketing option. As of now, however, the free version is being launched soon. The event platform…

Roberto Lopes interview: LinkedIn message led to Cape Verde adventure for Shamrock …

Roberto Lopes cannot bear to think what would have happened if Rui Aguas had not been persistent enough to message him a second time. The former Cape Verde coach first contacted the Shamrock Rovers defender via LinkedIn in 2018. He wanted to discuss the prospect of him playing for the national team because he was eligible through his father. Lopes ignored it. He does not speak Portuguese. "I started the account for college years ago and used it sparingly," he tells Sky Sports. "You would get these spam messages and I just thought this was another one. Thankfully, he wrote back in English. That is what set me off on this incredible adventure."Three years on and Dublin-born Lopes still plays for Shamrock Rovers. Everything else has changed. He is now in Cameroon preparing to compete in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.Aside from "that constant worry that it is going to be your unlucky day and you will test positive" there is nothing but excitement. "I cannot wait," he says. "I have been buzzing about this tournament ever since we qualified for it. I am so excited about it." The call-up has done more than change his career. It has transformed…

Fintech predictions in 2022, LinkedIn's Clubhouse-like platform, JABU's $3.2m seed

Hello there. Today, I’m discussing: 2022 predictions for the fintech industry LinkedIn’s Clubhouse-like platform JABU’s $3.2m fund What does 2022 hold for the fintech industry?  In the past few years, Africa has seen rapid growth in the fintech industry. In 2021, for instance, approximately $5 billion was raised by startups across the continent. Interestingly, this exceeded 2020’s investment and is almost four times what was raised five years ago. This demonstrates how much the fintech space has evolved in recent years. Moreso, the fintech industry is reshaping and simplifying our lives. Who would have predicted a decade ago that Point of Sale (PoS), and mobile and Internet banking would be a part of our everyday lives?  While 2021 was a great year for fintech startups, 2022 could hold more. What do you think? We don’t know what 2022 will bring, but we can see the future by looking into the past. Here’s Emmanuel Paul’s take on that: Nigerian fintech predictions for 2022: Dollar exchanges go the way of Bitcoin.  Please read and leave your thoughts in the comment section.  LinkedIn to launch a Clubhouse rival LinkedIn, a professional network service, is launching a new events platform to list, host, and…

AFCON: Roberto Lopes ignored LinkedIn message for NINE MONTHS but is now set to play …

Scanning his LinkedIn account in 2019, Shamrock Rovers defender Roberto Lopes came across a peculiar invitation in a foreign language. It was the then-manager of the Cape Verde national football team, Rui Aguas. Yet after 'connecting' with him, the Dublin-born centre back ignored his follow-up message. It almost cost Lopes - unbeknown to him - a shot at international football. 'Through sheer ignorance and probably rudeness, I didn't translate the message! I just assumed it was spam and was a standard LinkedIn greeting in Portuguese, which I don't speak' Lopes tells Sportsmail, on the eve of playing in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.  Shamrock Rovers star Roberto Lopes ignored a LinkedIn message which would change his life The Irish-born centre back (back row, third from left) will now represent Cape Verde at AFCON Nine months later though, after a follow-up text in English from Aguas, the Shamrock Rovers star realised to his astonishment he wasn't being led up the garden path. Yes, the Cape Verdean Football Federation really did want him to declare for the small island country in the Atlantic Ocean, through his Cape Verdean father. He only set up his LinkedIn page at college eight years earlier, while studying Leisure Management at…
