The state has led the country in population growth for the fifth year in a row. From 2020 to 2021, Idaho’s population grew 2.9 percent, according to U.S. Census Bureau population estimates. Idaho welcomed 53,000 new residents, bringing its population up to about 1.9 million, the Spokesman-Review reported. The main reason was people moving from other states. Neighboring states Utah and Montana ranked just behind Idaho, growing 1.7 percent each. Washington ranked 23rd, gaining about 0.3 percent in population. The growth in Idaho, Utah and Montana follows trends in the West. Nationally, the U.S. population grew about 0.1 percent, the slowest growth since the country was founded. The U.S. Census Bureau attributes that to decreased international migration, decreased fertility and increased mortality due to the COVID-19 pandemic. “Population growth has been slowing for years because of lower birth rates and decreasing net international migration, all while mortality rates are rising due to the aging of the nation’s population,” Kristie Wilder, a demographer in the Population Division at the Census Bureau, said in a statement. “Now, with the impact…

In fact, the longtime entrepreneur, investor and "Shark Tank" star found himself in the middle seat of an airplane while going to Las Vegas to celebrate his windfall."When I sold my company for billions of dollars, to go and celebrate, I was on a Southwest flight," Cuban told ABC News earlier this year. "I was in the center seat facing the wrong way on the plane thinking, 'This is just perfect.'"In 1999, Cuban and his Broadcast.com co-founders sold their company to Yahoo for $5.7 billion in stock. Instead of letting it go to his head, Cuban said, a simple concept kept him grounded."The wisest advice I ever got was 'live like a student,'" Cuban said. "That served me a long, long time."That meant continuing to live a low-key lifestyle, which "took away a lot" of risk and uncertainty in his financial life. In an email to CNBC Make It, Cuban confirmed that he "didn't change much after selling my first company" — keeping the same car, house and even furniture. But Cuban did splurge on one luxury item, which meant his days of sitting in the middle seat didn't…

The new peak comes a day after the province's last record tally of 5,790. Before that, the highest number of new daily cases was 4,812, recorded in April. Health Minister Christine Elliott says 508 people are hospitalized with the virus, 355 of whom are not fully vaccinated or have an unknown vaccination status. She says 164 people are in ICU due to the virus. Experts said Thursday the current spike in daily infections doesn't present a full picture of the COVID-19 situation in the province, as testing systems are increasingly strained in several regions due to the fast-spreading Omicron variant.

Boom for content creators, bust for a lot of studio movies, but overall a year saturated with more than the usual amount of anxiety. For those who came up in the business, the change has been dizzying and disorienting. Fox is gone, ICM is going, MGM’s fate is murky, the future of some other stalwarts is cloudy at best. As one young-ish legacy-studio exec puts it, “What the fuck is this business becoming?” In the past, he says, “The worst thing that would happen is a tentpole that bombed. Now you have an industry imploding. The infrastructure is starting to crumble. What this business looks like in five years is terrifying.” Not so very long ago, this executive’s simple dream was to work for a thing called a film studio that made a variety of movies, including some that were meant to shoot for awards, others that were meant to make money by the bucket and a few that were modest rolls of the dice that might surprise…
