Bondi Sands adds skin-care category as it expands beyond sunless tanning – Glossy.co

Australian brand Bondi Sands has ventured into the skin-care space as it seeks to move beyond its core sunless tan and sunscreen products. Bondi Sands launched a 12-piece skin-care collection on Dec. 9 that includes gentle cleansers, clarifying clay masks, and hydrating serums and oils. Products range from $15-$19, and its bottles are made using 100% recyclable materials and post-consumer recycled plastic. The skin-care line launched DTC on BondiSands.com, and the brand is presenting its products to U.S. retailers in Jan. 2022. Bondi Sands hired a dedicated head of skin-care formulations to prepare for the category expansion, and established independent social media and marketing teams and individual social accounts. This underscores the significance of the category launch to Bondi Sands, as it seeks to grow its business on the wave of the skin-care boom. Blair James, Bondi Sands co-founder, said the company expects the skin-care category to contribute to 30% of the brand’s sales growth over the next three years. Bondi Sands grew 40% year-over-year in 2021, James added. “A lot of our growth comes from new product development and moving into new categories. We believe we were already a skin-care brand, to a degree, the brand is all…

Container shortage eases – Deccan Chronicle

Chennai: Slowing Chinese exports and improving Indian imports have eased the shortage of containers for freight. "Waiting time for containers has come down to an average one week across ports, while some are getting containers in three days. In October last year, it used to take more than two weeks to secure containers. Another major challenge was availability of containers to destinations like CIS countries. Now that too has been addressed," said Ajay Sahai, director general and CEO, Federation of Indian Export Organisations. The crisis was more pronounced in the east coast and that too has eased to a great extent, he added. According to Sahai, the slowdown of exports from China in November compared to the previous month has improved the situation. Further, the festive shipping for Christmas, New Year and Chinese New Year too has almost got over. Indian imports too have been growing well in the past few months. During last year, exports had picked up much earlier than imports. Shipping companies were reluctant to provide containers for exports alone as most of them had to return without freight. Further, the pandemic had hit the manufacturing of containers in different parts of the world, aggravating the shortage.…

Ex-dentist arrested, accused of stealing $8M in COVID-relief – The Columbian

By Associated Press Published: December 18, 2021, 6:45pm PORTLAND  — Department of Justice officials are accusing a former dentist from West Linn of defrauding the government out of nearly $8 million in money meant to help small businesses amid the COVID-19 pandemic. The United States Attorney’s Office, District of Oregon, said officials believe Salwan Adjaj in 2021 submitted dozens of loan applications from his dental practice computer to the Small Business Administration in an effort to obtain funds through the Economic Impact Disaster Loan program, The Oregonian/OregonLive reported. Those applications, officials said, included fictional employer identification numbers, false business start dates, employee counts, locations and identities. Once the Small Business Administration rejected most of those applications, officials said, “he shifted his sights to the Restaurant Revitalization Fund,” where he had more success. In May 2021, he submitted similarly faked applications for restaurants allegedly located in Florida, which generated nearly $8 million in fraudulent loan payouts, the statement said. Adjaj was charged with aggravated identity theft and wire fraud. Officials said Adjaj was arrested Wednesday and ordered to be detained Thursday “pending further court proceedings.” It wasn’t immediately known if Adjaj has a lawyer to speak on his behalf. SCB provides FSI breather for house owners – Deccan Chronicle

Hyderabad:  In a major relief to house owners in its jurisdiction, Secunderabad cantonment board (SCB) announced changes to the floor space index (FSI) regulations at a board meeting here on Friday. A resolution for exclusion of areas like cellar, stilt and basement earmarked for parking, staircases, corridors, balconies, generator and lift rooms while sanctioning the building plan was passed during the meeting. The permissible FSI of 1.5 for construction of buildings allows for up to two floors apart from the ground floor. However, while calculating the FSI, the ratio of area covered by building floor to the plot size, considered cellar, stilt and basement areas under built-up space. This led to large-scale violations in constructions and congestion from parking on roads, as parking space was integral to FSI calculation. Later, SCB chief executive officer B. Ajith Reddy said that there should be strict compliance of the new rules. Residents were deprived of valuable living space due to the FSI limitation and hence, it was decided to exempt them from calculations, he added. With this revision, there is a likelihood that FSI violations would come down significantly. The resolution provides for accepting compounding fees or compliance with minor modifications to such…

Created in partnership with media tech holding company Subnation, the experience includes an NFT gallery with digital wall displays, physical and digital products for sale, and a streaming studio. The retailer follows several others that have launched physical activations around NFTs as they’ve increasingly entered the NFT space. These include Dolce & Gabbana, which staged an NFT installation in one of its flagship stores, and Rebecca Minkoff, which held an NFT exhibition for New York Fashion Week.  The items being launched as part of the new experience at Fred Segal include IRL collectibles, limited-edition apparel and gaming hardware. Visiting customers can use cryptocurrency to purchase virtual products including NFT artwork and digital skins online via Coinbase. The retailer is working on allowing cryptocurrency to be used in-store to purchase items.  “The metaverse is going to happen in one way or another,” said Jeff Lotman, the CEO and owner of Fred Segal. “The idea of being involved in having a Fred Segal store in…
