Microsoft denies rewriting Windows 11 using AI after an employee’s “one engineer, one …

Microsoft told Windows Latest that the company does not plan to rewrite Windows 11 using AI in Rust, which is a programming language that is more secure than C and C++. But the clarification is not coming out of nowhere, as a top-level Microsoft engineer made bold claims of using AI to replace C and C++ with Rust. “My goal is to eliminate every line of C and C++ from Microsoft by 2030. Our strategy is to combine AI *and* Algorithms to rewrite Microsoft’s largest codebases. Our North Star is “1 engineer, 1 month, 1 million lines of code,” Galen Hunt, who is a top-level engineer at Microsoft, wrote in a now-edited LinkedIn post. “Eliminate every line of C and C++ from Microsoft by 2030” obviously suggests that Microsoft’s top-level engineer, who is responsible for several large-scale research projects, is talking about products like Windows. For those unaware, most of the Windows API level code, and even its kernel, is built in C, while C++ powers some of the apps. I also screenshotted the LinkedIn post before it was edited out by the top-level Microsoft engineer: Honestly, most people would not have taken this seriously if it did not come

Judge Rejects LinkedIn Antitrust Settlement Over Major Flaws | JDJournal Blog

A federal judge in California recently delivered a significant decision in one of the most closely watched technology litigation cases of the year, resulting in the LinkedIn Antitrust Settlement Rejection. The judge refused to grant preliminary approval to a proposed class action settlement between LinkedIn and millions of users who alleged the company engaged in anticompetitive practices. Background: Antitrust Claims Against LinkedIn The lawsuit at the center of this dispute was filed in 2022 by a group of LinkedIn subscribers, including users of LinkedIn’s paid premium services. Plaintiffs claimed that LinkedIn used restrictive contractual terms to hinder competition from third-party rivals effectively monopolizing the professional social networking market and allowing the company to maintain high prices for premium offerings. LinkedIn offers a suite of services and tools that professionals and businesses use for recruiting, networking, and talent development. Users who pay for premium accounts often do so for advanced analytics and enhanced access to network data. The plaintiffs in the antitrust case argued that LinkedIn’s business practices limited competitors’ ability to innovate and compete, thereby restraining market entry. Proposed Settlement and Conditions Under the proposed settlement, LinkedIn agreed to amend certain contractual practices for a period of three years. Specifically

The SaaS Reset – LinkedIn

In late 2024, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella made a provocative claim on a podcast: “ SaaS is dead .” A year on, the comment has taken on an ironic turn. Microsoft has since quietly cut internal sales targets for its agentic AI offerings after struggling to find sustained buyer interest. In some cases, targets have reportedly been slashed by as much as 50% —a clear signal that the company overestimated near-term demand for its new AI tools. Despite unparalleled distribution through Windows and Microsoft 365, Copilot has failed to gain the traction of consumer-facing alternatives like ChatGPT and Google Gemini , both of which enjoy stronger usage momentum and clearer user value. Microsoft’s arch-rival, Salesforce, is experiencing something similar. Executives at Salesforce have noted that enterprise trust in generative AI has begun to fray, largely because of the inherent unpredictability of LLMs. While LLMs are powerful, their probabilistic nature makes them difficult to rely on for consistent, mission-critical outcomes. In response, Salesforce is recalibrating its Agentforce strategy, reducing its dependence on generative AI in favour of more deterministic forms of automation . The goal is to improve reliability, reduce unexpected behaviour and restore customer confidence. This raises a bigger question

Live Feed In time for the holidays, The Hollywood Reporter compiled a ranking of Seth Cohen's hybrid holiday of Christmas and Hanukkah. WB/Courtesy Everett Collection (2) Logo text Chrismukkah is upon us. Back on Dec. 3, 2003, The O.C.’s Seth Cohen (Adam Brody) introduced his own hybrid holiday to adopted brother Ryan Atwood (Ben McKenzie), blending Christmas and Hanukkah to reflect his interfaith family, as his dad Sandy (Peter Gallagher) is Jewish and his mom Kirsten (Kelly Rowan) is Christian. Seth may not have invented combining the two holidays, but he did give the world a name for what he called “the greatest superholiday known to mankind.” Writer-producer Stephanie Savage told The Hollywood Reporter in 2016 she was surprised by how many viewers already celebrated something similar but lacked a term for it. Each season’s Chrismukkah episode followed Seth using his superholiday to solve the latest crisis on the Fox drama, resulting in some of the show’s most entertaining and dramatic moments. With Hanukkah underway and Christmas approaching, it’s that time of year to revisit how

ODOT Announces I-75 Traffic Shift thru Spring 2026 – Sidney, OH

General City News Posted on December 20, 2025 The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) recently announced they are moving into the next phase of the I-75 construction bridge reconstruction between Fair Road and Russell Road. Earlier this week, the contractor began preparing the barrier walls in anticipation of the upcoming traffic shift.  On Wednesday, December 17, the contractor scheduled a daytime closure of the right northbound travel lane. Northbound traffic was maintained by use of the contraflow lane and the exit/entrance ramps at State Route 47/Michigan Avenue were closed.  The final shift of this phase is expected to take place on Monday, December 22. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on I-75 northbound between Fair Road and Russell Road from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Crews will be shifting traffic into its normal pattern with two lanes in each direction on their proper sides. This work is weather and temperature dependent. This new traffic flow will be maintained through spring 2026. As a part of the ODOT project, the contractor will remove and replace the mainline bridge over Campbell Road In addition, minor profile adjustments will be made to I-75 to increase the vertical clearance.
