INDIANAPOLIS — Construction cranes in the downtown Indianapolis sky are signs the city's best days could be ahead. One of the largest professional websites in the world has validated that opinion through its research. WRTV LinkedIn recently released its ranked list of the 25 Cities on the Rise for 2025. Indianapolis came in 14th place thanks to factors such as new construction, tourism, and the city's pharmaceutical industry. "It's nice to see that people are recognizing everything that's taking shape here," said Indianapolis Department of Metropolitan Development director Megan Vukusich. "Our team has been hard at work on these projects for such a long time. It is extremely rewarding." WRTV The most-notable construction projects rising over Indianapolis are the 38-story Signia Hotel, which is on track to open in a year, and the Elanco headquarters on the west bank of the White River, which will welcome its first employees in October. DeJoy “liked” a LinkedIn post from Zachary Hensley — who was the vice president of technology and operations at Astronomer from 2019 to 2024 — in which he admitted, “Yes, I’ve laughed at the memes.” The former staffer shared, however, that he had mixed feelings about the entire ordeal, adding, “But I also know Astronomer is more than one moment or one person. It follows other mid-sized cities, like Portland and Nashville. The report says Pensacola is one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the nation. Professionals in many different career fields are flocking to the city. Analyzing date from users, LinkedIn ranked American cities with significant increases in hiring, job creation and talent migration in the past few years. Will Wirth is the marketing and communications director of the Better Business Bureau serving Northwest Florida. He says there are many reasons why Pensacola has become such a hotspot for professionals. According to him, it all started with COVID. "We were considered more work-friendly during and after the pandemic than other states," Wirth said. He says professionals from all over flocked to Florida to look for work. Pensacola was ranked by LinkedIn as one of the fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the U.S. in its inaugural “cities on the rise” list. Pensacola has drawn in professionals, homebuyers and manufacturing companies en masse since the COVID-19 pandemic thanks to the opportunities that are available in the region as it continues to grow each year. LinkedIn used its own data to form the list and it highlights 25 emerging mid-size cities that have seen significant increases in hiring, job creation and professional migration in recent years. “We were really no different than lots of small-to-mid-size market cities. We allowed our greatest asset − our talented young people − we willingly allowed that to be exploited (by) larger cities. The game has changed now,” said Pensacola Mayor D.C.
