Worcester Polytechnic Institute took the 39th spot on the inaugural Top Colleges list. The professional social network created the list to identify 50 programs that best set alumni up for long-term success. The ranking was built on LinkedIn data, such as career outcomes, job placement rates or advancement into senior-level positions. Your announcements on LinkedIn are getting a refesh, with LinkedIn today launching an updated set of achievement animations and images, which will provide a fresh look to these posts in-stream. As you’re no doubt aware, LinkedIn has a series of in-built GIFs and image templates to go along with various professional achievements and announcements, including that sun one, those planes, the cupcake, etc. Though LinkedIn’s used the exact same animations for a long time, and they’ve pretty much lost their appeal or resonance. In fact, LinkedIn retired several of them late last year, but now, it’s rolling out some updated graphics to help make your professional updates stand out. The Metropolitan police reported on their X account that an additional eight people were arrested for other offences including five for assaults on officers. Ahead of the protest Civil Rights Group Amnesty International released a statement urging the Met police not to make arrests on peaceful protesters. In early July, Parliament passed a law banning Palestine Action and making it a criminal offence to publicly support the group. The move followed an incident in June when activists broke into Royal Air Force base and damaged two tanker planes to protest against Britain’s support for Israel’s offensive in Gaza. Supporters of Palestine Action say the ban unlawfully limits free speech. They have held protests across the UK over the past month. On Saturday, more than 500 people gathered in Parliament Square, many holding signs reading “I oppose genocide. (August 8, 2025) – The New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) is now accepting project applications for the Garden State Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) Program . The program enables commercial property owners to access a new form of financing to undertake energy efficiency, water conservation, renewable energy, and resiliency upgrades. WHAT:            The Garden State C-PACE Program allows commercial property owners to repay investments in eligible projects through a special assessment to a Participating Municipality, similar to the owner’s real property tax, sewer, or water bill. This unique form of financing results in lower-cost, longer-term financing, making it easier for projects to be cashflow-positive from the outset. The Program will help drive private investment, from Qualified Capital Providers, throughout the State to help decarbonize existing and forthcoming buildings. Using the Program, property owners will be able to finance up to 100 percent of eligible improvements for Retrofit Projects and up to 35 percent of the stabilized value of New Construction Projects. After all, I’m a writer largely because there are so many stories I want to tell. Whether it’s the middle of the night or the middle of a shower or the middle of eavesdropping on a stranger’s conversation, I’ve never been at a loss for what to pitch next.  But I’ve come to learn that many journalists I admire came into the field for other — and frankly, more selfless — reasons, like a deep-seated drive to pursue the truth or the ability to write with breaking-news speed.  So in the spirit of learning from one another, here are a few key ways I’ve accumulated story ideas — and spun them into the kind of pitches that secure assignments.  1.
