Gen Z Leads Australia’s Physical Retail Revival as Chemist Warehouse Capitalises on …

Australia's gen Z cohort is leading a retail revival, spending more time in-store than any age group. According to a new Snapchat survey of over 2,000 Australians, 44% of gen Z increased their visits to physical stores over the past 12 months, nearly double the national average, and spent more money in physical stores than a year ago. Snap Inc. ANZ managing director Ryan Ferguson said the research makes gen Z’s hunger for connection clear, and is powering a physical retail revival. “Their purchase decisions are fundamentally social,” Ryan explained at an event in Sydney on Thursday. “Products are discovered, validated, and celebrated in the group chat, and the store is where it all comes to life. “The brands that will win with this generation are not the ones optimising for the last click -- they’re the ones present throughout that conversation, from the first share to the final purchase." The study found gen Z is finding value in the social connection and shared experiences physical retail experiences can offer, with shopping centres a place to spend time with friends, explore products, and make decisions collectively. 76% of gen Zs in Australia reported shopping physically creates memories online shopping can’t replicate

Australians could opt out of social media algorithms under new law – RTL Today

Australians could be given the option of opting out of powerful social media algorithms under new legislation cracking down on big tech, a minister said Monday. The draft law requiring a "digital duty of care" is expected to be introduced to Australia's parliament this week. It would require firms like Meta to give users the option of turning off algorithms that tailor recommendations to their personal taste. "A lot of Australians appreciate the algorithm, both for the enjoyment they get out of it or the utility they get out of it," Communications Minister Anika Wells told national broadcaster ABC. "A lot of Australians will want to choose the algorithm -- but we think that big tech should offer them the choice in the first place, and they should respect that choice." "We should give Australians more choice over what they should see on their feeds," she said. Social media firms have long faced scrutiny over their use of allegedly addictive algorithms and stand accused of directing users to sensational or extreme content to keep them scrolling. Australia implemented legislation barring children from social media platforms in December, part of a world-first crackdown designed to protect children from online bullying and

Stuck in Debt, Single Mom Pays Off $25K in 5 Months by Decluttering 410 Items

Ellie Titmus with some of her Vinted stock – SWNS A British mom who racked up £23,000 in debt ($31K) has paid back $25,000 (£19,000) in just five months by decluttering and selling 410 household items on Vinted, eBay, and Facebook Marketplace. 32-year-old Ellie says her debt began to “snowball” after she became a single mom in 2022 and she took out a short-term loan of £15,000 and another loan of £8,000 to get by. Over the next four years she found herself spending on “silly things” like take-out food and online shopping—£1,000 in one month using three credit cards, for instance. Despite making some payments over the years, she’d still built up that much debt by April of this year. “I felt sick, to be honest—and embarrassed that I’d let it get to that point. “I work for a bank, so financially I’m very literate, and I understand how credit cards work, how loans work, and all of that. “But I knew I had to deal with it regardless, and worked through it.” Ellie combed through her house and sold off 410 household items, including toys, clothing, jewelry, kitchen gadgets, and room decor items online. Starting Pitcher Streamer Ranks Fantasy Baseball: 9/6 & 9/7 & 9/8

Rankings of the SP Streamers for today’s, tomorrow’s, and the day after tomorrow’s games for fantasy baseball. Every day of the 2026 baseball season, I’ll be looking at today’s and tomorrow’s slate of scheduled starting pitchers and ranking their matchups for your fantasy baseball streams. There’s a lot that goes into this and you can hang out with me on twitch.tv/pitcherlist to talk about the specific ranks as I make them every weekday morning from 10am – 12pm ET. If you have questions about these ranks, please ask during the morning Twitch AMA. Those are my office hours as I generally don’t answer comments on the site. There are four tiers to these rankings with 12-teamers in mind: Auto-Start – Just do it. Don’t overthink this, start the man. This includes “if I have them rostered, I’m starting them” pitchers. Probably Start – I’m likely starting these arms, though I recognize there is more risk than we’d like there to be. Either it’s a tough matchup for a good-not-elite pitcher or a weak lineup for a volatile arm. These pitchers have a 50% or greater chance of performing well in my view and I’m starting them in the majority of

Roadrunners in second after round one of Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate

Vashaun Newman/UTSA Athletics MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — David Martinez and Bryce Womack are tied for sixth place and the UTSA men’s golf team is in second place after round one of the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate, which teed off Sunday at Grande Dunes Resort Club. Martinez and Womack both posted a 4-under-par 68 to help lead the Roadrunners to an 11-under 277. UTSA is just one shot behind day-one leader Elon, one stroke ahead of Campbell and two better than Lipscomb (-9) in the 16-team field with 36 holes remaining. All five Roadrunners in the lineup turned in a red number in the season-opening round, as Brayden Bare carded a 2-under 70, while Gabriel Derbez and Francisco Solorza registered 71s. Martinez and Womack are part of an 8-way tie for sixth place, three shots off the pace set by Lipscomb’s Ciaran Murphy, who fired a 7-under 65. Martinez wrote down five birdies against only one bogey in the first round of his third year with the Roadrunners. Teeing off from No. 10, he birdied both par fives on that side of the course, the 560-yard 13th and the 578-yard 17th, to get to 2-under. He then moved to the

Witkoff and Kushner Visit Kyiv for First Time After Meeting Putin in Moscow

Russia and Ukraine continue to trade attacks, though they refrained from targeting each other's capital President Trump’s envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner arrived in Kyiv on Sunday, marking the first time they’ve visited the Ukrainian capital in their role in negotiations on the war in Ukraine. The pair traveled to Kyiv following a visit to Moscow, where they held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin for about three hours. While there was no sign of any breakthrough, both sides said the talks were positive and constructive. Witkoff and Kushner’s visit to Kyiv produced similar statements, but there was also no sign of any breakthrough. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he held three rounds of talks with the US envoy, including a session with European officials. Witkoff, Zelensky, and Kushner in Kyiv on September 6, 2026 (Office of the Ukrainian President) “Today, we had three rounds of negotiations. All of them were very substantive. I want to thank Steve and Jared for coming. And we are grateful to the President of the United States. We had good discussions,” Zelensky said after the talks. The Ukrainian leader said that if the war continues through the winter, he hopes the US and

Musk’s blow torch post is why X just lost the Twitter bird logo – TNW

On 22 July 2023, Elon Musk posted that X would “bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds.” The next day he said the company was taking blow torches to the Twitter logo on the building. Three years on, both posts have cost him a trademark. Chief Judge Colm Connolly ruled on 3 September that X keeps the Twitter name. It has probably given up the word “tweet” and the bird logo. His opinion, filed in the District of Delaware, runs to 31 pages. It turns, repeatedly, on what Musk said in public. The case is X Corp. against Operation Bluebird, a startup set up to claim the marks Musk discarded. X sued it in December 2025. Days earlier, on 2 December, Bluebird had filed its own applications for “TWITTER” and “TWEET” with the US Patent and Trademark Office. What X kept, and what it cost X won on eight marks, the group Connolly calls Twitter-formative. It won them on a single clause sitting in the Apple App Store. The X app listing opens: “Welcome to X (formerly known as Twitter), your trusted digital town square.” Naser Baseer, a legal director at X, testified that the company
